You people speak like you actually know what you're talking about.

Do you have anything to back this claim? Even the [obviously] Amsoil sponsored site you provided listed Castrol Syntec as a synthetic. Under federal law, how can they advertise it as something if it isn't?

Actually it is Mobil 1 that is not fully synthetic. The base oil is synthetic, but the additive package solvent is dino, and that can account for up to 30% of the total oil volume. Now that the new Mobils have even more additives it's likely even more of it is dino.

Mobil even admitted this on their web site. Now they have changed the wording to intentionally make it abmiguous, but the distinction is still there between base stock and additive stock.

Is Mobil 1 with SuperSyn Technology a fully synthetic motor oil?

Yes, it is. To meet the demanding requirements of today's specifications (and our customers' expectations), Mobil 1 with SuperSyn uses high-performance fluids, including polyalphaolefins (PAOs), along with a proprietary system of additives. Each Mobil 1 with SuperSyn viscosity grade uses a unique combination of synthetic fluids and selected additives in order to tailor the viscosity grade to its specific application.

That's very interesting but it was stated that Castrol Syntec, a popular *marketed* synthectic oil, contained absolutely no synthetic oil. That's a very bold statement.

OK folks.....I do my own oil changes. My xB has 6,700 miles on it and i performed the first change at 5,000. I intalled an Amsoil SDF10 and Amsoil's HDD 5W-30. This oil has a drain interval of 35,000 miles, and that will be extended once I install Amsoil's Dual Remote By-Pass filter system and use "used oil analysis". Amsoil warranties their products even if the vehicle is still under factory warranty.

I was a Mobil 1 user for years. Hands down, AMSOIL OUTPERFORMS ANY OTHER OIL ON THE MARKET!!!!
