Default Oil Change Question

Quick question... I changed my oil when I got to 15,000 miles, as I do every 5,000. Right after changing it, I got deployed and have been for the last 3 months. Next month I get back and want to know if I should change it after the 4 months or wait until 20,000... My wife drives it once a week for about a mile or 2 just to keep it moving. Opinions?

You might as well change it since it has just been sitting. It's only a couple bucks to change so might as well do it.

Yes, definatley change it. Follow the rule of thumb...if you question it, maintain it...it's worth the extra care and piece of mind.

I say change it as well. I've been running Saturns for the last 14 years, and they run very well just by keeping the oil changes on time. It is worth the investment, and will look good on your car's maintenance record (should you decide to sell it later...)

Why not... It'll only cost me $20 anyway so I guess I'll get it done once I get home. It's gonna be interesting. Someone will look on my vehicle record, see at 15,000 that I changed the oil, then at 15,100 or so I changed it again!

One more quick question... Once I decide to start doing my oil on my own, how can I get the oil changes to show up on the hsitory report? Can I do that, or do I just have to get it done at the dealer to have it show up?

If you want to get really crazy about it, you could always keep the receipts for the oil & filters. But we just record the mileage and what was done.

It will be done! As soon as I get home... well, within a week of getting home, I will change it! Thanks for all the suggestions!
