Default Is it ok to do a oil change after 3k?

is it ok to do a oil change after 3k? because i have a road trip and right now it's only 2.4k and i guess when i hit 3k, i will still be on the trip. And it's my first oil change, can i just add a lil more just incase it runs out. i think when i come back from the trip, i will be around 3.6 or 3.7 k? Give me some suggestions.

for a road trip that long i suggest u change the oil before you go. because you're putting a crap load of miles on your car in a short ammount of time plus driving your car for a long periods of time. all that crap in your oil already is going to cause more friction than clean oil. but then again i read that our cars oil change should be every 5k miles, but don't hold me to that number.

Road miles are considerably less damaging than city driving. You actually burn off many of the fuel blowby and condesates that build up during highway driving. However, I would change mine beforehand. But I run Mobile 1 syn and change at 4k intervals. You can NEVER change your oil too often, so it is up to you. But on dino oil I would not think of going longer than 3k personally.

Under "Normal Driving," yes. But under "High Stress" e.g. the driving anyone does every day living in a city, you're supposed to change oil every 3k.

He just said he's going on a road trip, not every day city driving.
