Default Overspray Help...

Well my neighbors friends painted something last week & it was windy so it got overspray all over my xB. On the glass, and lights, etc. Its not that noticable but my whole car feels ruff. My neighbor is going to fix it for me by using a cleaner wax he has, he said it will take it right off and it did but I have seen that there are clay bars for this. How do theses work? Is it really hard to do? I am going to tell him about this & see if he wants to buy one since im not even going to pay for anything. I was pretty mad, it seems like everything goes wrong for me n my little box.

I would recommend a clay bar. Just keep the surface wet while rubbing the clay over it. The bar will come w/ instructions.

No, you fold the dirty part of the bar into the bar and rub with a clean part of the bar. You only get one or two uses (the whole car) out of each bar. For an xB probably only one.

Have to work carefully since if you get a foreign object in the clay it will gouge the paint. So if the bar is dropped on the ground, its toast. Get a new one.

I first heard of them on this site, but I've since seen them in action. Impressed by what I saw.

You just need to put it in a ziplock bag or something like that. Just so it won't dry out. But if you're getting overspray off I'd just throw it away after you're done with it. No need in using it again.

Cut your clay bar up into sections. That way, you won't have to worry if you drop it. Just throw the piece you dropped away.

I'd also reccomend using a Detailing Lubricant, like Meguiar's Quik Detailer instead of just water.

If that doesn't work to remove the overspray, try Automotive Goo-Gone, or Turtle Wax Polishing Compound.

The polishing compound removed some touch-up paint splotches on my hood, so that might be your best bet.

Whatever you do, wash the car first, and keep it wet while you clean!

I just Zaino'd my car today....boy am I tired...but it was worth it. One of the steps includes clay barring your car (this was the first time I have ever done this on any car). You should have your neighbor buy you a kit.

http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/...ct_Code=ZKIT-1

Here are the steps I did:

1. Wash car with liquid dish washing detergent (removes/breaks down old wax)
2. Clay Bar car Z18 - (used 1/2 cap of Zaino car wash & 12 oz of water in a spray bottle. Just spray and clay. It is similar to a hockey puck on ice. As the folks above said, use it, fold it, and if you drop it, toss it.
3. Wash car with Zaino car wash Z7
4. Applied wax Z5 - this removes swirls & fine scratches.
5. Remove wax and spray on the enhancer spray Z6
6. Applied wax Z2 - this is a high gloss polish
7. Revove wax and spray on the enhancer spray Z6
8. Apllied another coat of Z2 - you can apply as many layers as you'd like. This was it for me.
9. Remove wax and spray on the enhancer spray Z6

I probably spent at least 6-8 hours washing my car today, but I have never owned a car that looked so shiny! Thank goodness this wax last 6-9 months.

Good luck!

You can clay bar the whole exterior...just make sure it is lubricated with a soap/water solution. I used the claybar on everything (body, bumpers, lights, windows, rims, etc.). Not sure on the price...but I'm sure it's relatively inexpensive. probably $5 -$15.
