Default POLL: What is your car mod skill level?

How good are you at modding? is everything DIY or do you feel paying the shop to do it is cheaper than paying your hospital bill from car-inflicted injury. Post your thoughts.

Unless it requires welding, or some other special tools I don't have, I always do it myself.

It isn't modding unless there's a little bit of blood.

But yea, I'm pretty comfortable doing most of the work.

everything came together the way it was supposed to, the front sway bar was a pain in the ___, and made me scratch my head alot, but we manage to get it done in the same time it takes a professional to do it.. everytime i do something on my vehicle ive come to realize that this vehicle is meant for this.. its made for any ordinary guy to work on his own car, rather then hire someone to do it.. only thing i sacraficed was the money for the parts..

Working in the automotive field as a technician, I do ALL the work on my own car...NO ONE ELSE! It's real nice to have access to a auto lift and power air tools. I also get to work on my cars everyday of the week if I like...

Depends on my location.

If I'm at home I'm confident in taking on all projects. My pops pretty much owns every tool under the sun and if things get too difficult I can always cop out and ask for his help (even though he just thinks I'm just wasting my money, refuses to help from jump, and thinks I should save to just buy a another car - lol)

At school it's a different story - I live in an apt. where space is at a premium so I can't go out store anything over the size of your basic craftsman set. So I usually just take on most electrical/min. exterior mods but I have to shell out money for time consuming/major mods such as suspension etc. because I just don't have the tools or the access to work in areas w/out dealing with the elements or annoying landlords/residents.
