Default Power loss and burning smell

I recently noticed a dramatic loss of power that is sometimes (usually after going up a hill) accompanied by a burning rubber smell in my 2007 tC. I've had my oil changed since it started, but that didn't fix the problem. Sometimes after the smell appears the performance seems to go back to normal, but the improvement disappears pretty quickly. I was thinking it could be bad gas, because I filled up shortly before the problem started, but it is the gas station I always use, and I've never had a problem before.

I have a manuel transmission, and am getting high RPMs where I shouldn't be. It takes a lot longer to accelerate (which is a problem because to get to work I have to get on an interstate with a very short on acceleration lane). I've had the car for a year and a half, and have 12,000 miles on it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

yeah, could be your clutch is slipping, are you changing gear, hitting the gas, and your rpms go up, but your mph stays about the same?

that means you need a new clutch.

if you only have 12 k on it, it could be covered by bumper to bumper warranty, but the clutch is a wear and tear item, so if your just $h!tty at driving manual, or playing fast and the furious, it isn't the cars fault, it is yours.

a clutch should last the life of the car, but if you abuse it, it won't.

It lasted 150,000 miles, along with everything else.

toyota makes one of the best manual transmissions out there...somethings wrong.

my sister's turbo beetle is having that problem (slow acceleration) but the clutch on that has been through hell...
have you changed your transmission oil to red line?
