Default Protect your gas - LOCKING GAS CAPS FOR SCIONS.

Hey folks...gas is expensive and getting worse....and more and more people are victems of gas theft.

Don't be one of them.

The part number you want for a locking gas cap is Stant #11504. This will fit the 1999 and up Toyota Corolla and it will also fit the Scion xA, xB, and more than likely tC. (Haven't tested it on the tC)

Good luck!

(Stant is the brand carried for OEM replacements by AutoZone, Wal-Mart, O'Reilley's, Pep Boys, Advance, etc.)

There have been a rash of gas thefts here locally...especially at malls and grocery stores at night. My gf's Corolla and my xB are protected...but if any of the turds tries to pry open my gas door, I'll be for hunting them down and enacting some street justice.

Locking gas caps....we are headed back to the future....

1973 during gas shortage caused by OPEC boycott locking gas caps come in because there is an increase in gas siphoning (theft).

Good idea.

Thanks for that I've been wondering what the number was. Heading back to the dealer to check if they fit tCs.

so wait, people just pry open the door and steal the gas?

how do you get the cap keyed (or does it come with a key?)

it comes with a key, because it has a lock

you have to buy a new cap to get a lock.. the reason he is checking with the dealer is because gas caps have a pressure release valve.. if it doesn't work.. then you have emission problems.. and most likely a check engine light..

Actually, Stant.com lists a 10504 for the xA and xB (probably not much different than the 11504) and a 10509 for the tC.

Here's a link: http://www.stant.com/part_locator/index.cfm

I don't see the xB as being a target for gas theft, given the fact that:

1) Half the people out there think it's electric.
2) The other half know it has a small engine, and because of that, likely a small tank.

Haha. Max. Thats SO true. If I had a dollar for everytime someone asked if I had to plug my xB up I'd be retired!

Locking gas caps are stupid. IF someone wants your gas that bad, they will punture your tank. This happened a LOT in the '70s.

And a gas tank is a lot more $ then a few gallons of gas.

Someone tried to get into my xB a couple of weeks ago, didn't get any gas but scored the crap out of the paint around the lid.
If i ever catch anyone doing that again, it will hurt!!!

Part number for the new gas tank you have to buy, when the desperate crook takes the gas any way they can, you have that number? And the price? Just curious.

Also, I wish them luck getting a hose down the maze of a filler pipe we have. If they want it bad enough, a locking cap won't stop them. It will make them do more damage to your car. If they can get some from mine I say good luck!

Dude. If someone prys my gas door off, the least I'd be worried about would be my gas. I'd be more upset about the screwdriver marks on that large body panel, which would have to be repainted, plus the cost of the gas door...
