Post Your Post Detailed Ride Pics here!
edit- contest added see post 18 I believe
Products Used -
Used my own Cherry Soap (my own = a blend that I've been playing with for production)
Rinsed
Dried with microfiber - found at Wal-Mart.... avoid the blue loose weave. These tend to shed... ALOT. I use the Tight weaved Yellows- SuperCheap but about the best on the market

I then let the car cool off in the garage for about an hour and a half.

back into the garage with Mother's Clay...
Clay the whole car until it all feels smooth as glass.
Knead the clay after each section. DO NOT DROP THE CLAY...

Finished the claying and went into Scratch Removal. Using two products... One is a heavy duty cream, a compound. Brand untitled as it's still being considered. Then I used Meguiar's Scratch X. Which is no more than a filler. but it helps when you don't have a Mechanical Polisher.

Then I followed with Meguiar's #26 Carnuba Wax. 2 Coats. 4 on front section. This is where the most damage occurs... so more protection.

Then I finished off with Meguiar's Detail Spray Wax. Use AS directed. That is when the OCD kicked in... I think I could use a whole bottle on my car in one session. But alas, I only sprayed it 4 times. With a half hour between each completion. I had the time.

Here's mine

And just because...
I'll ShowOff My interior

This is a 9 month old BSP tC with 20K + Miles and some paint chips... When the finish is as shiny as it is here, the chips are tough to see.

Default Car detailing

Gotta admit....not an expert on detailing so is it true that you should wait a few months on a new car before you do anything to it? I have a new Xb coming, BSP and wow....want it to shine like that Tc....any tips would be great.

It's a popular misconception that you shouldn't wax your a new car because the paint is still fresh and curing. What people don't know is that the paint has already cured LONG before it even reaches the dealership so wash away! In fact, I reccommend doing a full detail job to remove all the contaminants on your cars paint it accumulated during transportation.

That includes wash, clay, polish, and wax! The best thing you can do is give your car a fresh start~

a clay bar removes the grit and grime that contaminates leave on your paint's finish. If these contaminates are not removed regularly, they will damage the paint surface.
Contaminates also cause oxidation, which can be remoived with a clay bar.

When using the clay bar, follow the directions as printed on the product packaging.

You will FEEL the contaminates being removed by the clay bar. It's a satisfying feeling, knowing you are removing all that grime.

The results = glass smooth finish which is now ready for polish.

Now post your pics and products used... no more tech talk... save that for HERE

Thanks! I think the desert landscape shot is incredible. Took me a minute to realize I was looking at a car door. LOL!

This pic was taken a day after doing a hand wash and wax. I went with megular's cleaning wax on this run and next wax/wash will be done with the megular's caruba.

Here is what I did. (Please criticize, I want to make sure I do it right )

Using the MrClean Autodry.
-Rince
-Soap
-Hand wash using Viking no-scratch wash mit (never scrub IMHO).
-Rince
-Drying spray. (The drying spray is pretty cool)
-Air Dry (Drying Spray will allow non-spot air dry in about 5 mins)
-Microfiber towel Dry where needed.
-Apply Megulars cleaning wax using the supplied wax pad to about 1/3 of the car (thank you for the glass roof!)
-By the time 1/3 is waxed the first part will be dry. (can probably go with 1/4)
-Using microfiber towel wipe off the dry wax.
-Repeat untill car is finished.

These were the steps that I took, it was a little over an hour to finish. But my car is still shiney a week later! Now if I could just keep the dust off. :\

How often should we wax? do it every wash? What about mixing waxs? I was thinking of doing the cleaning wax on first, followed with the caruba? This my first car that I need to shine so I have a lot of questions and I want to do it right .

I have not done a detail polish/claybar yet. I have heard to only do a polish every 6 months? Since my tC is less than a month old I was going to wait to do the polish (figuring that the dealer did it??). What do you think? Is it ok to polish it this early? I would definitely have a detail shop do the polish as I don't own (or trust myself) with a buffer ;).

After reading MOTHERS detail guide, I learned the clay bar is the best damn thing to clean contaminants off your car's finish. You spray car detailer to "lube" the surface you're going to drag the clay bar across and you'll remove embedded particles in the paint that aren't removed by regular washing. Since the clay bar effectively removes contaminants, it also removes your car's wax. So plan on re-polishing/waxing after using a clay bar.

This is a good read at MOTHERS website:

MOTHERS Detailer's Guide

I'm going downtown to search for this clay bar, it sounds like it works pretty damn good.

I will need to be able to recognize that it is a Scion, so keep that in mind.

One bottle to Each Winner...

I admit it's not a huge prize, but it's a gift ffrom me to you.

Well I picked up MOTHERS clay bar. It has been cold and raining today so I haven't
been able to start cleaning the car yet.

Instead of sulking inside the house waiting for the rain to stop, I had a little craft time.

Enjoy.
