I normally wax my car every other wash (I wash my car every Saturday). I drive my xA daily, 30 miles a day. It's also parked outside in the sun for the greater day and garaged at night. With this schedule, I can keep a fresh shine everyday plus the paint is still as smooth as a baby's butt the day it left the dealership
I was thinking of doing the cleaning wax on first, followed with the caruba?
The only prep work for wax needed is some detailer's spray to enhance the gloss of the paint and prep it for wax adhesion.
What about mixing waxs?
So which type of wax to choose? It depends. If you're looking for a long lasting, better protecting finish, synthetics are the way to go. If you're looking for the best glossy show car shine and not worried about longevity, stick with carnauba.

You will FEEL the contaminates being removed by the clay bar. It's a satisfying feeling, knowing you are removing all that grime.
The results = glass smooth finish which is now ready for polish..

You spray car detailer to "lube" the surface you're going to drag the clay bar across and you'll remove embedded particles in the paint that aren't removed by regular washing. Since the clay bar effectively removes contaminants, it also removes your car's wax. So plan on re-polishing/waxing after using a clay bar.
This is a good read at MOTHERS website:

I'm going downtown to search for this clay bar, it sounds like it works pretty damn good.

Damn! This clay bar is amazing! I started on a side mirror just to see how well it works. Using the detailer spray and very light rubbing, I could FEEL the bar pull in some spots. After a few strokes, the pulling subsided. I went back over the piece with a microfiber towel and detailer spray to clean it up. Used Mothers polish then 2 coats of sealant followed by Meguir's Gold Class wax. O-M-F-G. The side mirror looks like it's always wet!
Now starting on the rest of the car.... gonna be a long night.

Some side tips~ use plenty of detailer spray and don't clay dry areas! Apply only light pressure (one or two fingers) and knead your clay often. Don't drop the bar! once it's down never use it again. Also, break the clay bar in half for easier use and save the other for next time.

Yelosub, your xB looks like it's got wet paint all over it. LOVE IT!
I'm just finishing up the roof on my xA, I'm pretty pooped... I might wait till tomorrow morning to finish the rest. Sure wish I had a garage....

Just did mine. Clayed, used 3M 39009 Polish for Dark Cars with Porter Cable DA buffer. Followed up with Zaino Z2 and a wipedown with Z6
It looks glossier in person...the mica in the paint breaks up the reflections on camera

Hmmm Flint Mica sure doesn't seem to take very good pictures outside. The garage pics show the reflection pretty well. Nice!
