Default Special break-in Oil

Do toyotas such as the scion line up have special break in oil for their cars?

I am honestly new to toyotas and have been working on hondas for many years already and their new cars always come from the factory with oil that has special break-in additives. Therefore it was not recommended to change the oil too early for the first time.

No problem at all. As a matter of fact, I haven't purchased a scion xB yet but within the next month for sure.

Just asking to plan ahead for my first oil change. Honda/Acura highly recommends the person to leave the oil in their car for at least 3000-5000 miles depending on vehicle conditions.

no offense, but honda's have "piston slap" and if i would've known that, i wouldn't have followed the advice of breaking it in for 3000 miles.. my old civic that is.. so after that experience with two honda's.. i don't think much of honda's advice..

with the tC i changed the oil at 1000.. then at 5000.. it might have break in oil.. but hey change it at 1000 and fill it up with regular.. everything is fine with mine.. dealership actually recommended in so many words to do the change at 1000..

There's no "break in" oil in any of the Scions. There is just regular oil and you don't need your first change till the 5000 mile mark.

That goes along the line of changing your blinker fluid every six months!

If, as I have read here and there, the fuel efficiency of the xA-xB improves over the first 3000 miles or so some wear in must be taking place. I would call this "break in". I would expect some particulates to be generated during this time. Change of oil and oil filter prior to the 5000 mile point would seem to me to be a wise action. But then that is an opinion and everyone is entitled to his own opinion.
