Default Time for Spark Plugs

i am at 33,ooo + miles and called the dealer for some plugs (as per maintenence schedule)
they wanted $5 per plug
a little searching and the plug is an NGK BKR5ES
i opted for the V-Power plug from NGK BKR5EY
the set of 4 plugs cost $6.82 at O'Reilly Auto

the number in the plug part # is the heat range of the plug
colder plugs have a higher number (BKR6,7,8ES)
obviuosly hotter plugs will have a lower number

hope this helps someone

Cool info. I didn't realize the maintenence schedule was 33,000
for plugs. I swear someone said we had iridium and should go
a full 100,000 before replacing. Or maybe that was only on
the tc?

actually they are recommended to change at 30,ooo
i am just that lazy
i like to do the plugs when i finally clean my filter
so the performance boost is just awesome!!! (j/k)

i am also going to a 1 heat range colder plug
San Antonio summers are not forgiving(HOT HOT HOT!!)

I replaced mine at 4k with the Iridiums. They will supposedly last 100k but they are so easy to change that it's no big deal. They are pricey though at about 6 bucks each!!!

exactly, my set of four costs as much as 1 of yours
the performance benefits of Ir plugs are iffy to me
but at that kind of change interval
you might save money in tha long run
just check 'em periodically (2nd or 3rd oil change)
make sure everything is still attached and working

I dont think the xB comes with the Iridiums, so that is about right. The tC comes with them and the books reccomend 130,000 mile change intervals. I will change mine sooner than that, but that is what they reccomend.

So, is it a good thing that the stock plug is a BKR5EY NGK V-POWER ?

???
inconclusive evidence as far as power gains, to me

but if the electrode lasts 100,000miles
that would easily justify it's use, to me

^^^^^^^ Yeah, I did not notice any power or fuel economy diff. But, the fact that they are good for a looooong time is what made me decide to try them.

They are built to match the factory resistance (low resistance plugs are not great for ignition system life) with long lasting iridium electrodes. They do conduct a tiny bit better, but are mainly good for lasting a long time. Very much worth the money IMO
