Toyota Auto Care Prepaid Maintenance Program (TAC)
I did do a search on this but humor me. Its my first car so i have ask.
I just returned from the dealer who sold me on the Toyota Auto Care Prepaid Maintenance program. total $1,500 with tax. The dealer explained that i would save about $1,000 vs paying for oil changes and service later. The words that sold me on the plan were that he said that at 30k miles sensors would have to be replaced. I can't find anything about sensors in the brochure he gave me.
1 oil change every 5k miles -50k miles would be 10 X 70.00=$700.00 (include tire rotation) (actually this would be less since the first 3 are free)
1 major service every 15k would be 15k, 30K, 45k, 3x192=$576.00
so i end up with a total $1,276.00 including tax
I want to save as much money as i can and since i will need get the car serviced to keep the factory warranties (and the free tires for life program they have if i service with them exclusively) it seemed like a good idea at the time.
So, what am i missing or is this what it looks like a bad deal and i should just pay as i go?
I have not yet picked up the xb and i have 30 days to get a refund including tax so i am thinking i will pass on this "deal." But like i said before am i missing something?
I mean it cant be that obviously a bad deal.
Those Xb owners who have had the 30K service, did you have any extra charges for sensor or misc. items that caught you by surprise?
Thanks for any response,

This program is basically paying upfront for the oil changes, tire rotation, and inspections that i am told are necessary to keep your regular warranty or an extended warranty current. The theory is, if i paid for all of my oil changes and required service when i bought the xb, i would lock in "today's" prices and receive a discount as well. As i said before i haven't figured out any saving.
I will be canceling this when i go pick up my car. I will just pay for the service as i need it.
thanks for your replies,

Why would you be paying $70 for an oil change ... Even if they use Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil w/ and Mobil 1 Oil Filter, it should only cost $49.99 to $59.99 depending on the market in your area.
If they are giving you Toyota 5w30/20 with a Toyota Oil Filter it should only cost $19.99 to $29.99 depending on the market in your area.
Do NOT take that deal ... you are getting hosed!
*note: Toyota 5w20 & 5w30 are made by ExxonMobil

oil change is $25-30, 30k service is around $200 maybe more if they do a lot, the rest is a ripoff. they're charging you extra to check everything and top off fluids. Most dealers top off fluids as part of the basic oil change service. some dealers routinely do the basic checks when you come in for an oil change because they want yout business. Don't let them con you into paying extra
