Unless you somehow burned the tranny fluid, no.

Follow your owner's manual, and you'll be fine.

I always thought it strange that an engine requires an oil change after break-in but a tranny doesn't. There's alot of stuff going on in a tranny.

djct_watt has your answer though, whether or not I understand why.

Ok...I am going to TRY to keep this from becoming a book. There is reasons why you dont need to change your tranny fluid as often as your engine oil......For starters: Operating Temp (engine runs alot hotter than transmission), Oil Addatives/detergents in oil/fluids, Contamanents (IE: Burnt Oil/Gas from combustion chamber, Metal Shavings ect.), Friction, Pressure, Chemical stability, Viscosity these are just to name a few.......Ofcourse the more often you change anything the better it is in the long run.....However there is a point where you are just waisting money and time. I would just follow the Scheduled maint. guide or if you want to error on the side of safty do it at 75% of the suggested interval.

Your Tranny is not exposed to the combustion of the engine, that is why the service interval is not the same as your oil. Look at your tranny fluid, if it is bright purple and clear you are OK, just make sure your fluid level is good.

yeah as stated before the atf has detergents in it to help keep things clean it doesn't take as much abuse as oil does.

IN ADDITION:

ALL SCIONS use the Type T-IV transmission fluid common in most of the new Toyotas. Please note this is NOT Dextron III or IV or whatever. It is something specifically for these transmissions and anything else WILL screw it up. I have seen this happen and it's NOT a warranty situation if you put in the wrong fluid. In fact, if you look at your tranny dipstick it tells you to NOT change the ATF.

Now, if you get antsy about this kind of thing you can have it flushed at 60,000 miles. It'll be expensive since Type T-IV is about 5X as expensive as Dextron, but if it makes you happy...

We answered that, and no, you should not. Follow your manual, unless you have driven like a mad man and burned your tranny fluid.
