Default Transmission Oil change

im about the get my transmission oil changed because i dont even know if i ever had that done since i got the car ( got it when it was 35k in it and now i have 70l..)

went to a shop to get some redline mt90 but ther were out of stock..
my question is, is it easy to do it myself? how many Qts i need?

really stupid question but i really dont know: the clutch feel could change too or just the shifting feel can?

MT right?

This should pretty much cover it:
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=120673

I did this at about 10k miles and noticed a huge difference in shifting and accelerating. Everything with the tranny just felt smoother. I change my tranny fluid about every 25k miles, which is more frequent than suggested, but Im ****. I think the typical fluid change should be 60-70k. Maybe more with an auto.

Youll need 3 bottles of the Redline MT90. Its just about 2 2/3 bottles to fill her up.

Dont let a mechanic wack you over the head for doing this. It takes about an hour and its well worth doing yourself.

so what is this flush thing? they wash it out? they put something in it? it is better or they just want to screw me over?

you might want to do a flush because the drain and refill will leave some of the old tranny fluid behind and you will mix the new with the old.

Yeah i guess if you're really **** about it. drain and fill is all u really need.. more simple that way anyway. and flush.. could mean anything from manual drain and fills multiple times or to a machine doing it. Thats what a shop did to my 240 when i was too lazy to do it myself. and ill assume its well over 100 bucks. So Drain and fill yourself FTW! i wouldnt want soap and water in a tranny no matter how professional they are.

They use a machine that sucks out the old fluid while replacing it with the new fluid. Trust me, it has nothing to do with soap and/or water. The flush isnt really necessary unless you really think it needs it. Your prob good with just draining out the old and putting in the new. Do it yourself.... youll feel even better about it because you saved yourself 75$.

i dont get why people "Flush" their transmission or even the engine. if theres that much bits of metal and shavings then your engine/transmission would seize up...

the transmission oil change on the tC is by far the most easiest thing to do...i'll probably charge $20 for the labor...and it takes less then 10mins to do it...heck i'll do one for a size pack...

if ur really **** about it then jack it on the passenger side so most of the old fluid comes out.
at most here should be wat? 100mL of old stuff there so overall 4% of the old fluid is still in your tranny...and people are _____ing about it....

im not being ****...just tell it like it is. i just think its stupid that people would waste their money like that.

a strong magnet on the bottom of the tranny would be a great idea. on the oil pan too.
in fact theres drain plugs that have a magnetic tip.

welll for what u do, yes, because we can simply do it ourselves. lol But in a workers perspective, no its not. because u guys do your work, and u gotta get paid. Doing Drain and refills for less then 69 bucks would just be a waste of yur time.

Now thats a good price. but that price is not from a dealer right? My comment was more directed toward dealerships. hence, drew mentioning he worked at toyota. In fact the toyota here charges like 70 bucks for tire rotation?! lol cmon man. anyway im not really complaining. people gota make their money. and thats business. a dubsack is like 20 bucks, yet we all know weed shuld be like 5 bucks a gram. lol thats life.

Talk about being lazy. It takes me all day to change my oil haha. My first step is jacking up the car then taking a lunch brake.

By the time I realize that I shouldve done it its already monday morning and I have to move the car to work
