Default Using WD-40 in the interior of the car

Just wondering guys if I can use WD-40 on the inside of my car? I was afraid it was gonna smell and I could never get that smell out.

My seatbelt locker (the bar on the right side of the seat where the belt inserts into) keeps squeaking. Everytime I move around, that locker moves and it squeaks. I wanna get rid of it, but was afraid after i sprayed some WD-40 around it, that the smell would overtake the interior of my car and I would be left sniffing really bad oil smell.

if you are worried about smell, than you can try using PAM cooking spray. might sounds odd, but it helps with squeaks and i have used around the house when i couldn't find my other sprays.

smell shouldn't be a prob if you vent your car for a few hours afterwards and you don't have leather seats.

personally i keep my sunroof open and windows cracked after i get food b/c i'm paranoid about smells in my car, and a cigarette will never enter my car lit

PAM actually would be better than WD-40, but personally I would use a non-petroleum-based silicone spray.

Here is one... http://www.amsoil.com/lit/g1247.pdf

Another... http://www.rtxs.com/xcart/product.php?productid=16135

There are others out there, but you don't want anything that likes to eat plastic...

Wurth HHS 2000 is great for stuff like that, too. Goes on like a thin liquid, then turns to a thicker grease.

Use silicone spray. WD40 has a fragrance added so they have their own smell. WD40 also has a tendency to collect dust if excess is not removed. Remember WD40 was mostly developed as a "water displacer" and lubricant was kind of an added bonus.

I think the fragrance is there to cover the strong smell of kerosene...

Many plastics are not terribly happy with WD-40, and the aerosols, solvents, and petrol products in it tend to coat windows with a nearly un-removable coating as they evaporate over a long time.

Use mineral oil.

It's odorless and you can buy it in any drugstore (used as a laxative usually), but works fine as a part lubricant.

I bought a fairly big bottle of it for like $1.38 at walmart.
