Voiding the warranty

Voiding the warranty
I appologize if this is in the wrong section. If so, please move it. Thanks
What can I do to my tC without voiding the warranty? I've been looking into the sway bars, TRD lowering springs, TYC tail lights, and some new rims. I think it's cheaper to do all this myself rather than take it to the dealer and let them do it. So, how far is too far when it comes to modifications?

you can do anything to the tc w/o voiding the warranty. its been discussed before. but they can only refuse to fix a part if its been determined that an aftermarket part has caused the problem. but they can't void your warranty entirely. somebody correct me if i'm wrong

All that you listed will not void your warranty....unless for example, you put the struts on, they fall off and destroy your suspension. Then, it would not be covered under warranty. The aftermarket product must be the reason for the damage to void the warranty.

If you stick with the recommended TRD upgrades and the dealer installs them they will actually be included with your OEM warranty, and extended if you have one. I was able to find out a couple of weeks ago that even the supercharger from TRD is going to be covered under the powertrain warranty, 5 yr 60K, pretty good deal, but that only applies if the dealer does the install.
One thing I will tell you that will void your warranty is splicing into the main wiring loom that runs through the entire engine, if you are going to do light mods like HID, wire the HID into the factory wiring harnes housing and clip that into the main loom... no harm done. The TYC lights should alrealy have a factory wiring harnes to match the Toyota, so you should be good to go there too.

The only thing i know for sure that voids your warranty is a turbo & thats only the engine /powertrain part or if you put on a c.a.i. then hydro lock the motor. Other than that you're pretty safe because there's a law somewhere that says a dealer can't void your warranty because of something you put on your car unless they can prove the the part installed caused whatever damage is in question!! Sorry for getting technical. Just my loose change.
tsullivan03 is right anything trd is covered under warranty.

ditton on dat
but if it's minor mods(cai, shocks, exhaust) as long as they install it for u, it will not void warrenty. if you install it your self and screw up, then that's on ur ___. IF u successfully put on a mod and has no problems, then it will not void warrenty

Warranty
There is a law on the books called the Manuson Furgeson act it is a federal law that has to do with implied warranties .....
If you put on accessories IE: TRD approved parts the company CAN NOT void your warranty.........................
However if you hdrolock your motor as stated above you are #%^&*$* a turbo or supercharger would void the powertrain warranty but the rest of thewarranty must stay intact.
Also if you submerge a vehicle it not only voids the warranty but it must be re-registered as a salvage titled vehicle
