Warranty denial on Borla....Problem is back
Well, they told me it was a false code and that they just reset the ECU. I picked it up last night, drove it home, and then on the way to work this morning, the Check Engine Light, VSC, and TRAC OFF lights came on again.
They already told me that they would replace the cat if I had any more trouble but "what if". What if they replace the cat today and I have problems again in a month or two? If it appears to be a faulty cat again, can they say that they've done all that they can and that nothing more can be done?
Also, in the other post, some of you gave me the impression that the Advisor was jerking me around. I'm not clear what his motive would be. Does he work on commission and get more if it's non-warranty work? Educate me.

when those three lights come on, that has nothing to do with the exhaust system. A LOT of the members have had that happen (me included). I don't remember the exact cause (it's on the site somewhere I believe). If I recall, it has something to do with the charcoal canister under the hood, or a hose going into it... but all the same, it's not related to the cat.

what code did it have?
a PO420/421 usually means a cat
a P440,441,442,446 has to do with emissions aka charcoal canister/vsv purge etc.
the lights going off doesn't mean a certain code, it can be one of a 100 codes
its most likely a evap code(440,etc) or system to lean code (PO171)
and they don't reset the ecu, they just clear the codes stored in the ECU
it seems like these guys don't know how to diag. anything, i'd take it somewhere else

oh yea, there is no such thing as a false code
a code is a code, its there because something IS or WAS wrong
and improper diag does not make a car a lemon, it just makes the person/people working on the car not capable of fixing the problem
