Default Clear Coat!

What wax to use???? Thats the question, If you ask any one they all have an opinion and a different answer! Use this, dont use that! What it all comes down to is what works for you. I've tried neumerous types of wax! Thay all work about the same. I have a friend who does body work he recomends using a polish!! NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH POLISHING COMPOUND OR RUBBING COMPOUND THESE HAVE ABRASIVES IN THEM AND WILL SCRATCH YOUR PAINT! Any way I have had good results for years with meguiars! I use the spray on type its easy to use! when im going all out I use the liquid and a buffing machine with aplicator and buffing pads! Remember most peoples mistake is to wax the car in direct Hot sun light this is a no no wax it in the shade keeping the paint cool!! The wax shold dry to a haze not a hard crust. avoid geting it on rubber trim plastic etc. It can be a pain to remove, for hard corners in cracks etc. use Q-Tips to remove excess wax. as for what a clear coat is it is exactly what it sounds like in laymans terms it basicly a clear coat of paint or two on top of your color coat (colored paint) put there to help keep the color coat looking good and help it last longer!!!

I've used Meguiar's Gold Class liquid (don't like the paste). I recently switched to Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax. I read some posts about it on other forums and they were all good reviews. It seems to be easier to wax off than the Gold Class liquid. It's a little bit more expensive than the Gold Class (though I think it has more wax), but I like it...I'm sticking with the Tech Wax for now.

there are lotsa good products out there... all depends on how much you want to spend... a quick tip though... if you drop your applicator (towel/foam pad etc) on the ground, dump it and get a clean/new one... it's easy to pick up a micro-pebble that'll jack up your finish... same goes with whatever you use to remove the wax...

it's hard work... but after you're done... it's totally worth it... good luck!..

I use the gold class wash and liquid wax and on the BCP it really made a difference over what ever the dealer did. It's pretty easy to apply and remove.. as long as you're not in direct sun.

I'd recommend it, but it's th eonly wax I've used in years

zaino can last for over 6 months, the smoothness lasts for 3 months at least.

As with washing your car, do not wax your car in direct sunlight. I usually wait till later on in the day, when the sun starts to go down. When I apply the wax, I usually use circular motions, and dont press too hard. After the whole cars done, I wait till the wax kinda dries up...not to dry. Depending on the weather, wait can be up to like few hours. Then, get a 100% cotton towel with no seems or designs on it, and take the wax off using the same circular motions as when putting the wax on. But, when removing the wax, you wanna constanly dust off the towel, and use different parts of the towel. I take my time and remove little by little, well for my integra at least. Thats about it I guess..afterwards, might wanna check for missed spots and the edges also. Well, good luck.

zaino all the way. I've also used Meguiar's 3 step on older cars with great resaults but the zaino is amazing. I've heard good things about poorboys too.

http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc

You can only get off the Internet for now.
This is the best polish that you can buy.
It's not a wax just to let you know but it protects better and lasts longer than wax.
It can be put on in direct sunlight.
If you want to contact the owner of the company his email and phone number is listed below.
sal@zainobros.com
732-833-8800.
I talked to him for about 20 minutes one day.
try contacting the owners of any of the other companies you won't be able too.
i would have to say that his product is way better than anything I've tried.

Zaino and micro-fiber cloths.

Why?

Zaino...self explanatory. Here are a few shots of my car after today's fresh coat of Z2:

Micro-fiber cloth:
Anything else will put tiny swirl marks in the clearcoat and you will notice TONS of swirl marks over time. While this seems to be impossible to eliminate all together, using a micro-fiber cloth prolongs the look of your clearcoat. They run about $5 for a 3 pack at any Discount Auto.

I use the meguires gold class liquid. Don't get the paste it hella sucks. One trick i have found that makes it extra shiny without swirlies is to wipe of most of the wax with a very soft towel, then go back over the car with a polishing towel, and it will shine like there's no tomorrow

True, and I imagine that's true with most. Use a soft lint free terry towel to get teh wax off and then go over the whoole thing again with one of them there yellow polish clothes and BAM.

another one of my favorite waxes is from a company called "the wax shop" and its called "super glaze". Its really thin, and goes on and off really fast. its good for a touch up before or at a show. i can wax my whole box with it in under 30 mins. jus a lil fyi
