Default xB: Increased oil capacity

If you want to increase your engines oil capacity you can add a bigger filter.

Toyota part number 90915-YZZF1. Install of that filter does NOT affect warranty at all.

The service manager assured me that it would have no negitive effects on the motor. A case of 10 cost me $32.50, cheaper than most oil filters and you know that it is of high quality…maybe not the best filter, but IMO the best filter for $3.25.

How much larger is it and how do you cross reference the part # over to a fram number.

Default .......YES, needed information......

HeathenBrewing.... Is this for the XA and XB? Or the TC?

I would like a longer filter. It's increased capacity is because it is longer than that stock Toyota filter? Not wider, right?

I too will look for a case of these long filters.

Thanks for the information. Searching for 8 months for these details.

A Toyota filter is the way to go. I am using this same filter, same part number. The parts jockey told me that there are two filters for all Toyota 4-cyl engines, and that they use the longer one since it will fit on the Scions.

Do not use FRAM. Ever.

While the filter will hold more oil because it is taller/longer, we are not talking much.

Realistically they will hold another pint... maybe 1.5 pints if it is alot longer. Again, not a huge difference.

I'll have to check out my filter books tomorrow at work to see if I can find any thing else that will work.

Err....to each his own I guess, but for a genuine Toyota filter for under $4, why even bother with FRAM?

If I were you, I would research FRAM oil filters. They are garbage IMO.

Glad someone could get some use the info!

It is for an Xb, 2006, and it is longer, same width as the stock filter.

Very true..it is not a huge additional oil increase, but any increase in capacity is a good thing IMO.

Oil is your engines life blood. The more (and cleaner) the blood, the healthier the motor.

Why is everyone doggin on Fram? I've used Fram for more than 20 years without a single problem. Please enlighten me why I should suddenly stop using them please?

If you want to be really lazy about it, cut open a fram filter and a Toyota one as well. No need to use big words or computer tests...the proof is right there in front of you. frams QC has taken a huge turn for the worse.

Otherwise, try www.bobistheoilguy.com if you want to do more research.

I dont know how much frams are in your area, but when you can get a factory filter for the same (in my case, less) price, why use fram? Habit?

Thanks good to know! I'll take your word for it. What other brands would be comperable to the Toyota filters? I don't live near a dealership so I'm stuck with Wally World and Auto Zone for my filter needs. Thanks!

Mobil 1 now has bigger filters too - supposed to compensate for the new, longer-lasting oils.

Is this price a standard price I would pay at any Toyota dealership. If so I'll pick up a case of these and be done with it for a good long while. Thanks!

+1 !

While FRAM was the filter of choice in the 80s, they are not anymore. For $1 more, stay w/ Toyota OEM. Check the dealer flyers that come in the mail, I've seen them as cheap as 3/$10.
