damn that sucks! this driver wont get charged?
ORLANDO, Fla. -- A teenager was killed when his car was smashed between a LYNX bus and a pickup truck. The teen was stopped behind the bus when the truck driver crashed into him.
Several passengers in the bus were about to get off at a stop when the bus was suddenly hit from behind by the car, which took the brunt of the impact. Troopers said it was a tragic accident, where the driver who caused the crash likely won't be charged.
A mangled pile of metal is all that's left of the green Dodge Neon that was hit from behind by a white pickup. Investigators think the driver of the pickup never saw the Scion as he traveled through the light at Americana and slammed into the green car, the heavy carpets in the pickup adding to the weight and momentum behind the impact. The Neon was then pushed into the back of the bus, crushing the car.
Witnesses, who did not want to talk on camera, said the teenaged driver of the Neon, identified by police as Jonathan E. Correa, and his passenger were just patiently waiting behind the LYNX bus when it happened.
Lizette Cortes works in the bank along Americana and Orange Blossom Trail and she and her co-workers heard the awful impact. They watched as 19 passengers on board the LYNX bus got off at the stop, all of them shaken up.
"There was people coming out of the bus screaming and some people holding backs and necks. Somebody was hurting. It was very crazy at the moment, yeah," she said.
Paramedics took six passengers from the bus to the hospital, as well as the teenaged passenger in the Neon. Correa could not be saved. The 17-year-old from the Orlando area died soon after the crash. Despite the severity of the accident, the driver of the pickup likely won't be charged.
"There's no indication from any witnesses that I know of at this point that would indicate he was traveling at a high rate of speed," said
The driver of the pickup was likely going the speed limit, around 45 or 50. Since troopers don't think there was any reckless intent, the pickup driver will likely just be fined for careless driving.
The six passengers on the bus were not seriously hurt. The passenger in the Neon was in critical but stable condition early Tuesday evening.

Man, thats a sad sight to see. Hopefully the passenger in the tC will recover and the truck driver will get a bigger penalty then just a ticket for careless driving.

First off this is an extremely sad site and story.....Second something isnt right that truck driver should be charged with Second degree Vehicular Manslaughter....its not possible that he isnt charged.....
Heres the Florida law:
Manslaughter and Vehicular Homicide-s. 316.193 (3), F.S.
Vehicular Homicide: Second Degree Felony (not more than $10,000 fine and/or 15 years imprisonment).
x2 for 2 deaths!
