2006 NCAAF thread
Wanted to create a thread for the college football fans. Opening weekend has been going pretty much how it should ('cept for Tenn at #23 looking great and CAL at #9 looking lost). OSU played how I thought they would but Texas looked better than I anticipated. Should be interesting match up next week. Someone's season may be over week two.
IMO, watch out for Michigan State to compete for the Big Ten title and who should break into the top 25 on Tuesday. Also, Henne at Michigan looked like he packed on some lbs.
Can't wait to see what USC has pulled together tonight and Monday's FSU/Miami game is too good a game to be played week one. Makes up for the Texas/NorTX and West Virginia/Marshall type week one games, (albiet some top 25 teams played tough week one games).
This weekend has traditionally signaled the end of summer to me. It's so freakin' hot here, it'll probably take a couple weeks to sink in.
Everyone is a contender for the national title until Tuesday
good luck.

This is what I love about College football. First weekend of the season, and there's already a game with title implications. I'm not sure who I like tonight, but I'm leaning towards FSU. Not sure why but, I think they have this one tonight.
Then next weekend, we have OSU/Tex. Another game with title implications. I don't think either team's season is "over" with a loss, but it makes things considerably more difficult. OSU doesn't understand the kind of heat they have in Austin. They'll be done by the end of the third quarter. 105 degrees with 70% humidity. Texas D looked fantastic, but then again, it WAS just north texas. But I really did like the polished look of the team.
Texas by 11.

Speaking of the spread, did you see that CSU is only a 1.5 point favorite against the same Colorodo team that lost to DIV 1-AA team last week? And that Texas Tech is only a 7 point fav against UTEP? That should be fairly interesting.

Don't worry, you're going to be seeing a lot of Colt McCoy in the future, he's got a great future ahead of him.

OSU Played a great game....practically a perfect game. The difference in the game were the two to's Texas had. Quite frankly, I'm a little impressed that OSU didn't open the door for Texas to create a big play in D or spec teams. A hallmark of a veteran offense and great coaching. Hope yall go on to win it all.
