360 vs. PS3
I am torn, I am going to buy one by the end of next week. I found a used 20gig ps3 for $350 w/ 2 controllers.
Also found a used 360 w/ 1 controller for $250
I dont know which to choose...My argument. \/
1) I have played ps1 and ps2 platforms, I really enjoy their line of games. I love the gran tourismo series as well as socom and have beaten and loved both god of war games. But thats about it.
I dont know much about blue ray, but I plan on buying a hd tv within the next year or two and want to be able to watch hd movies.
I am used to the playstation controller.
2) I really like the vast selection of 360 games available. That is what is really driving me towards the 360. I have never owned an xbox platfrom, but have gamed on the first gen xbox. I liked it, but was sloppy on the controller, which I'm sure would imptove over time.
I really want to play that bioshock game coming out, it looks awsome!
Can you guys help me out with my decision? Please mor info then just "its awsome" or "ps3 sucks" etc.
Thanks in advance

They are both similar but different systems. I have a PS3 and really enjoy it. I really enjoy its blueray capabilities and it also upconverts regular dvds into higher resolution. It has built in wi-fi (20gb is discontinued) and has a decent internet browser. It also plays all PS2 games and makes them look better. If game selection is a factor for you, remember 360 has a year on PS3 already, so if you can be patient, wait, because eventually developers are going to make some really fun games especially utilizing the sixaxis.

Except HD DVD sucks and blue ray OWNS *LOL* Sorry had to throw that in, as well as the fact that after you buy the hd dvd player, and wireless card the 360 cost more than a ps3 by far
If your looking for overall bang for the buck then the ps3 is the winner to me, Like I said I own both so that is just my 2 cents.

HD-DVD/Blu-ray doesnt really matter to me right now, alls that matters is game play, and right now Xbox 360 is crushing PS3 in that aspect. As well as online gameplay, PS3's "home" thing is really boring... Xbox Live has a much better layout, and the gamerscore is really a much better online system then creating a sim IMHO... I mean what good games does the PS3 have coming out, that ARENT also on the Xbox 360??? Not too many, PS3 lost alot of exclusives... And for this holiday season, Xbox 360 has Halo 3, Bioshock, Too Human, Mass Effect... I dont think PS3 has that kind of a lineup in store for this holiday season....

if game play is your main concern then the 360 or wii hahaha.. is your best bet... the 360 game selection out does ps3.. and they are releasing so many new games for the 360 that it is ridiculous... the online play for the 360 beats the ps3.. even right now.. gears is out doing any game that ps3 even has out now..

Best "bang for the buck overall" is the ps3 hands down. Best gamer system at this time is the 360 with ps3 right on it's tail. Most horrible graphics go to the wii *LOL* yeah I have all 3

Do you honestly think Unreal is gonna top Halo 3??? Doubt it... And BTW, Unreal isnt even a PS3 exclusive, it is for the remainder of 2007, but it comes out in 08' for 360....

Guy it is hard to argue which is better, it is preference and unless you actually own both then all you can do is talk about "what you have read" on the internet. Playing one for an hour at walmart, or every now and again at a buddies house does not give you the real picture about anything. Both systems are WICKED for consoles.
But if you want to get into real hardcore gaming, build yourself a real machine consoles are still... consoles.

If Halo 3 is anything like Halo 2, then the PS3 would be the way to go. Bungie (the company behind the Halo games.) didn't even like Halo 2 when it shipped.
(The single player portion was weak, online was decent though.)
If you like online gaming, go with the 360. Sony will never gain ground on Xbox Live. Unless Sony decides to charge for their online services in the future. Microsoft did get Xbox Live right.
Blu-Ray is better than HD-DVD. (Storage-wise.) This disc battle is going to be tough though. Blockbuster took HD-DVD off their shelves in-store, but you can still rent them online. Paramount Studios was recently quoted saying the will not back Blu-Ray and only put titles out for HD-DVD. Until the potential of the Blu-Ray is unleashed (25GB of data compared to 15GB on HD-DVD, single layer and x2 for dual layer), and game developers actually use that extra GB space for games, this "which is the better media" battle could take a long while before it's sorted.
Lastly, for all you people jumping on the "Sony lost it's exclusive deals and now that game is coming out for the 360" train, HELLO! Games cost $$$ to make. It's becoming harder to make next-gen games for just one console. The game companies want to make more $$$. Why not make it for multiple consoles? More units = more $$$. Right?
By this time next year the PS3 will have the same quality games (if not better) than the 360. Remember. it took the 360 almost 1 1/2 years before the really good games came out. Sony is going through the same thing.
I own a PS3. Although the current titles aren't the greatest, I have faith that Sony will have some really good in-house games coming for the Holiday Season. I'm really looking forward to the new Socom, Killzone, and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. (There are others, but these titles are the ones I really looking forward to.) And with Metal Gear 4 coming out next year, the only problem I'm going to have it where am I going to get all the $$$ for these new releases?

to this... it costs them more money to make games for both... lets say this... if i was a game company.. it costs me 5 dollarsto make a game for 360 and 7 dollars to make a game for sony(blu ray cost more) and there are more 360 consoles in the market.. which console would you push more??? plus you'll be making more margin..
on Halo.. I believe Halo2 is all about personal preference... i personally liked halo2 ... i definately enjoyed the online play and I believe Halo3 will have a much better online considering xbox has done a lot to improve their online community and bungie has done a lot to improve it's online play.. and look at Halo2.. there are still hundreds of thousands of ppl still playing Halo2 now after several years of being out.. name a ps2 game that ppl are still playing??? or a ps3 game that ppl haven't gotten tired of.. i know I played restistance the fall of man for about a good 2 hours before i got tired of it.. but all this is my personal preference..
hd and blu are both considered blue lasers.. i believe that hd is not far behind in coming up with a disc that will hold just about the same amount of data..

Get a 360.
It's $349.99 now with Forza 2 and Marvel Alliance FREE.
Bioshock, Orange Box, Halo 3 should keep you busy during the holidays.
Multi platform games play better on the 360 than the PS3. Madden 08 runs 60fps on the 360 and 30choppy fps on the PS3. Assassin's creed is silky smooth on the 360 and choppy on the PS3. Majority of multi platform games on the PS3 will be ports from the 360. Developers aren't willing to spend twice as long developing for the PS3 since it will cost them more money and that there's a very small installed base of PS3.
As for Blowray being better... here are some facts:
Authoring BR more complicated. HD DVD uses DHTML while BR uses Java, BR more error prone.
Replication facilities, HD DVD has 32 locations, Bluray has 8. Only one location can do a full 50GB replication on Bluray discs and that is Sony. Sony will control the production of 50GB discs.
Most Bluray players have no ethernet port. They won't be able to support BR or BD live, can't update firmware. Can't download trailers.
BD plus (extra DRM), won't play in some older BR players. Older players can't get firmware updates.
The following HD options are optional on Bluray: Dolby Dig Plus, Dolby True HD, DTS HD. All are mandatory for HD DVD.
The cheapest bluray player now is $400 PS3.
The cheapest HD DVD player is $99 for a Toshiba, Walmart had them on sale a couple of weeks ago.

My unit was a victim of the red ring of death. I sent it in for repairs and 3 weeks later I got it back. I paid $0.00.
I'm actually happier after it was repaired. The problem was that the early 360s had a crappy aluminum heatsink thus causing it to overheat. Microsoft replaced it with a much better copper heatsink. Before after 2 hours of game play, my 360 would be burning hot. Last week I had a 6 hour Halo 3 session and was barely warm to the touch.
You can't go wrong with the 360. I'm sure the PS3 could be much better later on when they start to pump out their good exclusive games. But it's not worth the $400 if another cheaper system plays multiplatform games much better.
