This happened to a friend of mine (I work with her at Middle Flint) who went shopping in Cordele, GA this past Saturday (July 29).
She decided to browse Beall's and was in the back of the store looking at children's' clothing. She noticed a very well dressed, nice looking, 20ish something black man watching her from a few aisles away. When she looked up,
again, he was across the table from her and asked "how are you doing?"
She said, "fine," and kept looking at the clothes. He then said to her that he wanted her to help him out with a task he had to do for a fraternity initiation (does this ring a bell?). She said sorry, not interested, and he immediately changed personalities. She said his eyes got very angry and he yelled at her, telling her she needed to leave the store,
immediately. She told me that her knees went to jelly and she started shaking, and
she couldn't scream. She walked to the front of the store and went to the cashier, who noticed that she was extremely upset. The man stood behind the cashier and, again, told my friend she needed to leave the store, NOW.
The cashier told him to remove himself from the store, another woman witnessed this and the two of them told him, again, to leave the store. A second cashier called the police while the first two got his license plate number. My friend was uncontrollably crying - and I might tell you, she is a tough lady. This completely unnerved her. When she told me this, today, she was shaking and couldn't stop crying. The police came to Beall's, interviewed her - she refused to give them her name, as she doesn't want her name to appear in the City Beat - and the police escorted her back to the Sumter County line. She told me she took several detours on the way to her house, in case someone was following her. She is hoping the store surveillance cameras show his face.
LUCKILY, the TV show, CSI, had a similar case in the past few months, and she remembered it. She was not going to leave the store under any circumstances. The "fraternity" stunt calls for a black man to approach a white woman to rape, assault, or kill her, to become part of a gang.
NOW, for all you girls here in Americus, a similar "stunt" happened at WALMART this past weekend - back in the crafts department.
An email was passed around about a month ago about this same kind of stunt. The men (sometimes there are two) get a woman cornered in the back of a store, get her into a store room or dressing room and assault her.

well you know an opinion is like an azz hole evrerbody has one...being in GA has nothing to do with it...thatswhy it saids females...it was from an email that i received...

I think the reason people seem a little sceptical is because emails like that circulate all the time. I'm not saying it isn't true....it may be. But it does sound an awful lot like one of those typical "Don't flash your headlights.." or "A shipment of UPS uniforms was stollen" kind of emails. Either way, you ladies do have to be careful. BS or not, I always tell my wife when I read these...just in case.

ok i found this in my hometown paper, so that the ones that think this is bogus its not...it was in the Cordele, ga Dispatch on 8-11-06...
Police probe disturbing incident

CORDELE — Cordele Police are investigating a bizarre case that took place at a local outlet store.
On Saturday, July 29, a Sumter County woman was shopping at Beall’s Outlet. While browsing in the children’s clothing section (located near the back of the store), she noticed a 20-something, well-dressed, attractive black male watching her from a few aisles away.
After continuing to look through the clothing, she looked up and the man was standing across the table from her. The man asked the woman how she was doing to which she replied “fine” and kept looking.
The woman (who didn’t want to give police her name) said the man then told her he wanted her help with a task he had to do for initiation into a fraternity.
She told the man she was sorry and wasn’t interested, at which time the man’s attitude totally changed. She said his eyes were “angry” and he screamed at her, telling her to leave the store immediately.
Scared by what she’d just encountered, the woman walked to the front of the store and one of the clerks noticed how upset the woman was.
The man walked up behind the cashier and again told the woman to leave the store. The cashier then instructed the man to leave. Another cashier on duty called the police, while the other cashier got the man’s license plate number.
Maj. Wes Spires of the Cordele Police Department said when police arrived at the store, the man was already gone.
“Right now, we don’t have any suspects,” he said. “But we have had a couple of calls in reference to this incident.”
There have been similar reports like this one in Americus, although they could not be confirmed as of press time.
If you have any information regarding this case, call the police department at 273-3102 Ext. 2
