Apparently GM didn't observe the failure of the Subaru Baja.

The subaru baja was nasty ugly and the mini-bed never made sense. The El Camino has more or less a full length bed, the power to pull a trailer or camper and runs on good ol pushrod v8 power.
They should sell quite a few to people who's trucks or suvs guzzle to much gas yet still need a work/tow vehicle

That's a dumb comparison, the Ute has been selling well for years (like Burst said) in Austrailia. And the El Comino sold very well when it was out. GM had been wanting to bring it back a few years ago, but with the boom of sedans and suv's they opted not too, now they need to bring the company up and they are hoping this will help.
I like the look of it.

Anyway..
GM sell as a Chevy, not Pontiac, (*edit)*put the new Camaro front clip* and call it an El Camino..problem solved. I know one person that would buy it for sure, there must be a ton more than that.

Im a little confused as to why they decided why they chose Pontiac as the brand to sell this vehicle as, when Chevy sold it for decades as the El Camino. And they currently sell it in other countries as the Chevy Lumina Ute.
Its only a small number of parts (relatively speaking) away from the G8 Sport Truck, or whatever its called.
