Real atheists, not agnostics, will always talk about god/religion, because they never quit learning and don't think they have all the answers. It's religious people who have quit learning, and already "know" the answer and don't listen. If someone could prove something to you, you'd probably listen, right?

Simply put: I can prove the bible is wrong. Which is where nearly everyone in america get their idea of a god. So if there idea of a god is based on something that is false, then why do they believe in god? Because they "feel" god is real.

Just for clarity regarding the can you prove he doesn't exist:
citizen01: all powerful invisible zebras rule the world
theist:no they don't that is ridiculous.
citizen01:prove they don't
theist:I can't because that is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard
citizen01: so then they must exist.

Hmmm... If someone proved through logic that believing in magical invisible zebras is the same as what I believed I may start to wonder.

I think that was kinda my point. I know I don't have the answers... but I also know that 99% of the time, you just can't have an open debate with a religious person. I've tried and I don't get anywhere. So yea, you can prove everything about their beliefs is wrong... but you can't disprove faith.

I had a super christian roommate in college. We got along great because we were able to debate these things. I think it's great when people are willing to put aside their beliefs to try and see things from the other side; it's just hard to find people like that.

Maybe they will be back tomorrow. Anyways I'm off work, so until then, seattledave, will you watch my thread for me? Thanks.

I AM GOD! And I exist. Heck, some of you have even talked to me! Oh and by the way, The gods from all those other major religions say "Hi".

So... now that this is settled, what do I win?

I have to believe in Chuck Norris or else I risk serioous roundhouse kick related injuries.

I think a Seussian pseudo-religion would be awesome. Can you imagine the services? Everyone in funny, striped hats chanting: "I will not eat your green eggs and ham. I do not like them Sam I am. Amen."

Look I really don't appreciate it when people try to act like me. And btw. I don't drive an xA. I drive a tC thanks tho.

idk. I figure if God Did exist. He prolly got his ____ fcked up by airplanes and sht u know. Lol. If people decide to believe this character in order to feel better and relieve stress in their life, more power to 'em. But any problem I have is my Fault, not gods, any good thing that happens to me is all me. not god. I don't have a problem with what you believe in but don't force it on me.

I love/hate religious debates. Hahaha. I keep hearing how all Christian beliefs can be proven wrong, can someone please prove some of my beliefs wrong? I am not deeply religious, I just want some examples. I am probably more likely to be classified as a non-believer, but not everything can be scientific. There are just some things in this world that cannot be explained scientifically and it is very easy to buy into the God controls all of those "other" things business. I will give that. But, I believe that you can NEVER mix science and religion because one is based on cold, hard, physical fact for the most part (even though MOST of science is THEORY which can be likened to FAITH), and the other is based only on belief and opinion which most people have been taught cannot be right or wrong. Whew. I hope I make sense.

ok, i'm pasting this from the other debate:

read genesis 1:20-30, which are just days 4&5 of creation. It's super short. http://www.christiananswers.net/bible/gen1.html

Now according to those verses, which are supposed to be the direct word of god as handed to moses, list out what order the bible says these animals were created in.

Pigeon, Turkey, Sperm Whale, Stegosaurus, Worm, Cochroach.

I'll fill you in:
1st comes Sperm Whales (know about it's vestigial legs?)
2nd comes Pigeon/Turkey
3rd comes Stegosaurus/Worm/Cochroach

Having something like a pigeon exist a day, a year or a billion years before a Stegosaurus, Worm, or Cochroach is wrong in so many ways, and proves the bible didn't know what it was talking abou. The bible says this is the order of creation explictly...the first page of the book that your entire religion is based on, says something that is beyond logic, common sense, biology, evolution and most peoples home-grown creationlism.

___

There are a mere 76 generations between the first man ever created and jesus(lineage from adam to noah to david to jesus is written 5 times in the bible)? Do you believe that early, less evolved man like the kennewick man existed? Homo erectus? CroMagnum? What would you say is the first man/adam? Anyway you put it, the bible has people believing in either the fastest evolving species science has ever known or that all early man skeletons are hoaxes. all of them.

Your faith is based on the bible. Whether you believe in it, or the people who you learned it from do.
