ahhhhhhhh this is a tough decision for me. if you're into metal, beneath the sky, who is a recent band and is from cincinnati, they're very good.

also all that remains! linkin park is also good like you guys said.

I retract my message, I want nothing to do with a thread that names linkin park "best" anything.

Jebus Christ! You really need to listen to other music if you think The Fray and Fall Out Boy made the best cds ever.

Nirvana - Nevermind
Nirvana - In Utero

Rage Against the Machine - Rage Against the Machine, The Battle of Los Angeles, Evil Empire, Renegades

Sublime - Sublime, 40 oz. to freedom

2Pac - Any CD

Those are the best I can think of off the top of my head.
to be honest a year ago i only listened to rap and i just downloaded crap off of limewire. i just started listening to other things a short time ago so i really dont know anything out side of rap but i really liked those albums

that is a different strokes for different folks kinda thing. Same as **** like Michael Jackson, while i don't listen to it, you gotta respect that early stuff for little sounded as well produced as that.

But the pure marketing music of the pop/rap/alternative aka "Linkin Park" I can't, which is about on par with spice girls. It's hard to sell out, when you are a sell out from the very beginning.

I never thought I'd agree with Dave, but Linkin Park is pretty terrible.

Chili Peppers are awesome. I like the Linkin Park/Jay Z remix from Miami Vice, that was ok. Their new cd really blows though. The old one (Hybrid Theory) was ok. Not terrible, not great, just ok.

Those are the best I can think of off the top of my head.

Look at what sells in todays music world.

Thats all I need to see to know that 90% of the public has NO idea what QUALITY music is. Just because something is popular, it does not mean it is good.

The question "best CD ever" is an impossible question to answer....there are too many different styles to pick one CD as the best IMO. Some artists worthy of consideration:

Ojos de Brujo
Beethoven
Peter Namlock
Bach
Cheb I Sabbah
Kristian Vikernes
Miles Davis

I take it as "best album", with a good start, middle and finish, usually with not but 2-3 weak filler songs. No "Best ofs" or any album that uses songs found on other full albums, and the music must be relatively original sounding, none of that pop/rap/rock mix stuff.

imo, even thought I can't stand them, Van Halen 1 is a good example.

The thing I always look at people's opinions abuot such subjective things like art and music is:
Those who know what good art/music is, make it themselves(and no, "just singers/rappers" don't count). If you write and play(on an instrument) your own music, then your opinion counts.
