Default Best steering wheel lock for the money

I saw this steering wheel lock at Target, It was like $25-30...there was another that was about $60, I don't know what the difference was in quality, but I was thinking about getting the cheaper one for slight extra security

A black acura got stolen at my school parking lot between 8am-12pm last week. (where the ____ was security?) or people for that matter... And I went down the street to the post office today and another car's driver seat window was smashed open and it seemed pretty fresh.

The crime is probably pretty bad according to the US average (emeryville, by the border of Oakland, CA) and I'm worried someone is going to ____ with my car. I only keep my iPod in my car but Im thinking I should keep it in my bag for the sake of something happening.

I'd rather get my window smashed and they find nothing than they taking off with my car, or smashing it and THEN taking valuables...

I'm just curious, is a steering wheel lock worth it? Especially $25? I wouldn't mind getting one just for a small extra security, I mean if they plan on taking the car I'm sure they'd see the lock and figure out the extra effort to get it off isn't worth it and they'd move on. I'm not sure how much a security system for my car would actually HELP. my school is small so you COULD hear it from the front office but how quick someone would run out or check on my car especially if im in class? Not sure. All vehicles are written down I believe... So thats not too bad... Lojack would be great but not affordable at the moment.

$25 for a target wheel lock? What about brake locks?

any opinions? suggestions? Thanks!

They are more likely to break in to steal your audio then to drive your car away. I have a Viper alarm and a yellow Dr. Hook steering wheel lock that is yellow and matches my car. I figure if they see the wheel lock they may decide it is not worth the time to mess with it.

haha, carry a bat with me at all times?

Well, I dont even have an aftermarket stereo system, I'm not sure how likely that is to happen, then again, I am in the ghetto. I should probably get one anyway though

Yeah, I'm sure that takes some time depending on what it is, though.

I'm just saying, my car is in a parking lot full of other cars almost all of the time. If someone has been scoping at cars and they've picked a target, they might just come in with a shaved key, and drive off. How quickly can they cut the bar before someone notices you know. I mean i'm not saying its going to completely stop someone but there might be ONE day where my car was a target until they saw the wheel lock. You never know.

There are also those really fatty ones that arent bars but look really wide and cover almost the whole steering wheel.
