Default Calling on TV Experts...first new TV in like 20 years ;)

Well I have had the same TV since I was like 5 years old, a 27" Magnavox color tv.

I'm looking to get a new tv in the 27"-32" range for my bedroom for around $600-$900, depending the deal I can get.

What should I know and look for when getting a new tv? Are no name brands ok to save some $? I seen some by Westinghouse and olevia

I see there are plasma, lcd, projection hd-ila, projection lcd...will all of these be compatible with upcoming standards? Which type will most likely fall in my $600-$900 range?

This is one of the noname brands olevia, but I could afford that as a spare tv, or should I stay away?

My guess will be I will go to bestbuy to get it due to my reward zone card to get a little $ back...but bestbuy, circuit city, hhgregg are the basic option of places I figure I'd get it.

Thanks!
