Censorship in Rap Music "again"
#41
The point of telling racial jokes these days like carlos mencia or dave chapelle is not to make fun of themselves...but rather to make fun of the qualities that seperate each race.
Everyone needs to stop focusing on why these terms separate, but rather how we can make it so they bring us together.

It doesn't seem to work in music.
And we have to be honest here, it's pretty much OK for minorities to joke about the white man, but the reverse isn't done often, form what I've been exposed to.
Any time a society has different rules for different groups, it causes trouble.
I have a hard time paying a traffic ticket for tint when millions of people are here illegally, using fake (stolen) IDs. When companies are hiring illegals, and police can't do anything to them.
Since when is it OK for some people to break rules and not others?
Same thing as using words. When some can and some can't, it will NEVER bring people together.
My 2¢, and nice that we've managed to keep it civil.

Here's something else for your consumption. Russell Simmons on Bill O'Reilly. Really intelligent conversation on the original posters topic. I enjoy an intelligent discourse, and that's sort of what occurs in this interview. I don't know how much of Bill O'Reilly is for "show" but I think he does have some understanding of and is sympathetic to these topics:

Great link - thanks for posting.
I believe O'Reilly. Generally, he's on the right side and if you get past his personality, not a bad guy.
I give big props to Russell for starting with that apology - made my day.
I'm hopeful some ground can be made on this topic.
I see and hear this stuff every day at work, and it is hard for me to accept it as being "OK"

I disagree how "some" so-called MC's always deface women and some of the Bad Lang....If you listen to "real" Hip Hop its Very Positive stuff!!....Tells about the the Life Experiences etc...
I live Hip Hop....I knew the roots & nature of it.....Just kinda sad that Russell Simmons is doing this....I just think its a Pubicity Stunt etc...
Who knows!!...haha....*Waiting for the Hip Hop Revival*
