I should also add, that I was looking at an 05 or 06 STi, and while I think Subaru makes more reliable cars there were a few things that swayed me over towards an EVO 9. A few were my personal opinion.

1. STi Powertrain warranty-5yr/60,000miles, EVO 10yr/100,000miles.

2. After hearing about how ugly people thought the interior was in the EVO, I was surprised to find that I liked the dash in the EVO more than the STi's. I also love the Recaro seats in the EVO, boy do they hold you in. The STi's seats, while sporty, are catered more towards fat americans.

3. Exterior appearance is another personal preference, and hands down, I like the EVO's exterior appearance more than the 06 STi's.

4. The test drives. While I love the boxer grumble of the STi, I liked the stealthy sound of the EVO. I know it's rougher for daily driving in the EVO than the STi, but I didn't mind. This is also my personal opinion, and since I'm the one that's driving it, that's all that matters.

I gotta tell you guys, be careful of which dealership you buy an EVO from. I actually got to test drive an EVO MR at a different dealer than where I actually bought from. I was with a friend of mine, and the salesman actually told us he was into street racing. He drove it first to show us what it was all about and damn did he drive it. We got up to 105 from stop light to stop light. I feel sorry for the person that buys that EVO. The dealer I ended up buying from didn't let me test drive, but I didn't care since I knew what to expect.

Sheesus. Congratulations, man.

Hate to see you leave the tC behind, but what a way to switch it up. =D

You have to make some sound clips of that 4G63.

Thanks, yeah, the differences in driving are mind boggling. When I'm not driving it, I can't wait to drive it again. Constantly paranoid about who's by my car. I feel like I'm on crack or something.

the evo is the way to go, that warranty is killer , but i have heard horror stories, mitsubishi dealers can be real sticky when it comes to warranty work on evo's. its weird, they market a car made for the track, but if your caught racing it they give you hell.........

a good freind of mine got his to 450 at the crank with mostly bolt ons...........I love the potential, and the AWD is a nice plus.

right on man

I've heard the same horror stories about Subaru. I don't plan on taking my car to the track or anything like that. As far as parts for it, I'll probably get a turbo timer, boost gauge, catback exhaust and a new shift **** pretty soon.

yeah, for some reason they are really stringent on warranty claims......what i heard was (from road and track) some guy took his evo to the dealer for an oil change, it was lowered, etc. and while they were doing the oil change the hooked the ECU up to there little machine, and check to see what if any mods had been done to the car, removed etc. anyways the guy never raced it, he was like 40 years old, the dealer sent them a letter saying that based on the ECU diagnostic they would not service his car, and never actually gave a reason. Talk about BS, anyways...
I like the Sti, but the interior looks cheezey....
the evo is very funcitonal and simple
