I completely agree with the samsung comments. I sell tvs for circuit city and we cant keep them in stock. Comparing the samsung LN52A950 to the Sony KDL52XBR6 the samsung blows it away. The samsung's contrast is out of this world. But if you like the samsungs, take a look at the Mitsubishi LCDs. They are AMAZING!! Oh and also, I believe all the sony LCDs are bravias. If i remember right.

Just be careful not to get all caught up in specs and features. It's easy to get suckered in to a cheaper TV because it has lots of features. It's kinda like cars: You can get a Kia loaded up with many of the same goodies as a Lexus (heated leather seats, navie...etc) but it's still a Kia and I would still rather have the Lexus.

It goes both ways. You can buy a Cadillac and then realize you spent $80,000 for a chrome and leather covered Chevy.

LOL...yep, that's true too. My point is most people are going by personal preference and brand loyalty. Everyone wants to believe that the TV they bought is the best. Both Samsung and Sony make excellent TVs. They are both in the top 5 according to most videophile websites and magazines. There are tons of people who feel both brands are over priced. Heck, I have a 720p Vizio that only cost me $500. Is it as nice as my Sony XBR? No. But it's not that far off and the Sony cost me twice as much. I'd be willing to bet that most people (including most on here) could not pick out "their brand" from a side-by-side comparison test if all we could see are the screens.

Oh I know what you're getting at, that's why I've been doing research for a good long time. I was set on buying a 40" 1080P Toshiba, only to find out that it doesn't have sound capabilities with the Xbox360. Scratched that one off the list, lol. If I could get your Sony for the price you did, I wouldn't even consider anything else, but at retail prices, I wouldn't even put Sony my list.

I think you might have me confused with someone else on here. I do have a Sony XBR6 and I did get a good deal on it, but someone else on here got a phenominal price on his Sony.

^^^Yup, if you have a HDTV, blu ray players upconvert the dvd it to 1080p.

That Sony accommodation is a pretty sick deal and that tv does a good job for just about source you have connected.
