Anyone quoting "I went XXX MPH in my xA/xB/tC" please remember that the speedo's, especially in the xA/xB, can be VERY optimistic at 100 or more...
From the service manuals:
Any yeah, to a reporter a car going over 125 is going 130...

Does anyone know how the Scions are limited? I'd be curious to find out if the "fix" for the cavaliers would work for scions.

Either way, to survive a high-speed rollover is purty dern impressive.

Same for the wind, unless you have a good strong 130 MPH wind blowing.
Think of it this way, when the car is no longer accellerating (constant speed), and is regulated at that speed (meaning the ECU will not allow the system to produce any more forward force than needed to stay at that speed), the car is in static equilibrium. That means any more forward accelleration takes an outside force netting in the forward direction. So, if the wind were to speed you up, it must be moving faster than you are. If gravity were to do it, it would have to overcome the wind resistance (unless it were moving faster than 127mph) and other frictional forces. Even if it did, the ECU would keep working against acclleration, meaning it would provide less and less throttle to keep the car from exceeding 127 mph, so in essence, gravity would have to be responsible for the total forward speed if the car exceeded 127 mph.
If it were a simple rev limiter, which the tC also has, then it would change things a little, but the tC has a speed limiter as well.
Sorry for the long response, but I have heard this discussion numurous times and thought I would add some info

^^^yea, there is a rev limiter on the tC, when they had the S/C tC Hot Laps here. the "professional racecar drivers" were bouncing it off the limits like crazy.
needless to say, after a day of constantly doing that, the tCs were smoking, badly. but damn it sure was fun!

I cant remember where I saw it, but I saw pics of a tC that was rolled. You would be suprised at how it held up. I would be more concerned at getting a hand or arm out the sunroof when it broke and losing a limb
