Default credit card question

hey all, so i still have a $2400 balance on my tuition bill for this semester.. and i have 2 weeks to pay it off.

the only credit card i have right now that has a high enough credit limit is a visa, but my school doesn't accept visa.... does anyone have any ideas how i can pay the bill with it? maybe call them up and ask for a check? if they even do that

Ask for a cash advance from Visa.....They should be able to provide an pin number wich will allow you to withdraw from an ATM........It will probably be at a high interest rate, but you gotta do what you gotta do....

I'd see if you could work out a payment plan on the tuition, or a student loan, because Visa will kill you in interest....

So you're saying they don't take credit card? Because everyone takes visa...unless they don't take credit.

The check route is the best way to go...cash advances have HIGH interest rates....too high....especially for 2 g's.

That is kinda weird they don't take Visa.

It's everywhere you want to be.(I think that was Visa's line).

OK! Either they take CREDIT CARD or THEY DON'T! I don't think I've ever heard of anyone saying "we don't accept visa."

It would make sense that they don't accept credit cards since they're charged percentage rates and on a 2000 dollar transaction I think they'll take something like 100 dollars.

make sure there is transfer balance charges ie a one time fee or interest. sometimes you may have a "0% APR but not for balance transfers. Plus if you're into getting points your friend would probably get points on his card but you wouldnt on yours

yeah, sometimes one charges fees to the association using it so to cut down fees, they only take certain kinds.

transfering, i think your name has to be on the account to transfer it to that other card. there is always a balance transfer fee, which is why they send you the checks from the credit card. did you try to get a sallie mae loan or something, that's right through the schools you will know in days.

yeah its weird, I go to penn state and they are only accepting Mastercard or Discover. My cousin also told me that Drexel university in philly has also stopped accepting Visa; it seems like most universites are starting to reject visa....

as for the balance transfer fees, there are none. I applied for the PNC visa card and it says 0%apr on purchases for first year, and 0% apr for balance transfers with no fees for first year, I also called and asked if I'm able to transfer from an account of a different name, they said no problem =p

im glad i didn't have to take a cash advance or check though, the representative told me that if i had done that, my APR would've been 24% instantly, and my cash limit would only be 50% of my credit limit, AND theres a 4% fee on whatever cash advance i take out.... that would've been BAD NEWS!
