Do you believe not all cars are created equal?
Ok i was debating with my friend the other day about "freaks". Before I owned my TC I had a 2000 BMW M Roadster (looks like the z3 but has a body kit, m3 engine, exhaust ect.) I met up with friend exact same year car, and comparable miles, both bone stock! Both are stick vehicles, and we are both really the same experience level driving stick (i was driving it for 2 more years then him actually) He smoked me.... when i say smoked i mean by a solid 3 car lengths. My launch was close to perfect, and my shifting felt on point.
That brings me to my point (finally)..... Do you beleive in freaks? I do, i think. I hear more about this having to do with Mustangs and Camaros....but it seems like some company's ie. Ford, have said that it has happened in the past.
My question....not only do you beleive it...but HOW? Cars are assembled on a line... all cars produced should be the same and should perform the same.....
Thoughts? Comments?

well, since you asked... I was watching a show a while ago on how cars are built. all go through the same process. I believe they are equally built, but there are some odd instances where it def. is wierd.

yes, there are definitely freaks out there.
i went to a dyno day a long while back with my bone stock srt-4 and a few other srt-4 people. another bone stock skittle put down 225/247. my car got on the rollers and put down 241/264 without any modification (bought brand new from the dealer). 2 bone stock cars within 5k miles of each other and the power differed by that much? yeah, freaks exist.
kinda sucks that car got totalled shortly after the dyno day would've been a great base to build off of.

It could be how the car is driven. If the car has a learning computer, like the xB's do, then the way you were driving prior to racing could have affected the outcome. I've noticed this with people in my club. We have the same mods and such, but I tend to smoke them and I think it's due to my driving style. I could be wrong though...

if you believe in probability then you can see how almost anything is possible with enough attempts. Do I think you will ever find a twin turbo kit magically installed at the ford factory on a mustang?? no, but at the same time I dont doubt some things are possible...

thats true. i dont know. i just find it really intersting that something like that can happen. I remember maybe 3 years ago the Mustang Cobra's owners got a few of thier cars dyno'd only to find out that they were short about 15 hp. Ford took back a few of them that had that problem, and supped up the exhuast a little bit. But Cobra's i beleive arent made on an a line. (could be wrong though)
