getting someone off your mind...

That reminds me of something that happened to me a few years back.
I used to work for the city parks and rec department of the small town where I grew up. One day, my boss asked me to go trim trees at a large park in the town. Well, for some reason, I got thinking about a girl that broke my heart and I got really mad while trimming the trees. I didn't even realize it, but by the time I was done, the young trees were pretty much just sticks.
When I wanted to get someone/something off my mind, I would go ride my motorcycle. Riding forces you to forget everything else. I focus so much on controlling the bike and it takes my attention off what I was thinking about and makes me think about the road. Worked really well for me.

Yeah, for me, I worked out a lot, focused more on school and hung out with my friends a lot more. I also got into cars and played video games more. Focusing on myself and what I wanted in life made me a much better person in the long run.
After a while, your anguish just disappears. And when you realize that, it's a wonderful feeling.

I love my toys/gagets. When I'm depressed or whatever, I buy myself something new, even if it's just a new Gamecube game or something, whatever takes my mind off of things. It's usually proportionate to how crappy I feel. When I broke up with my gf a week before our 3 year anniversary (when I was going to propose) back in October, I bought myself my tC.

glad to know that also boyz go through similar times as we do
i believe that it's just a pure matter of time, yes hobbies and a new person will help but nothing will heal better than time

tc4italy is on the money. In the end, all you're doing with yourself is passing time. But it's better to be passing time, bettering yourself than passing time doing nothing, making you more prone to thinking about it.
