The Taurus PT99 and Ruger P89 are very different guns.

The PT99 was manufactured on Beretta equipment sold to the Brazillians, hence it's nearly identical to the 92FS. The only difference in design is the location of the safety level, on the frame vs. on the slide. Many PT99 and 92FS parts are interchangable, but not all of them.

A friend of mine had a PT89 as well. It's much more like an oversized Bersa (great gun BTW).[/img]

You're right. Should have remembered that. Do Taurus and Beretta have some kind of deal going on? Seems to me they make a gun really similar to my Bobcat too.

Taurus and Beretta - not sure what exactly the "deal" comprises of, but Wiki states that the taurus is a licensed reproduction of the Beretta. It also points out that the Taurus has been a development platform, in the case of the squared trigger guard. It was a success on the taurus, so the beretta adopted it.

Taurus does make a bunch of "clones" of other guns, but attempts to improve on them in the process. Another example would be the "Raging Bull" series, which clones after the old Colt "snakes". Note the underbarrel extension, and the top ventilated rib.

I would like to get my hands on a Raging Bull .454 casull one day... unless S&W allows them to come out with a .460 . Shooting that thing has been said to be more brutal than the legendary .500 !

What the heck - I've legitimately carried since I got out of the military in 1970, and one or both of these is my daily carry...

Other goodies stashed around the house, and original AR-7, a Hi-Point 995, an old H&R .38, and a S&W 59.

For any of those who have ever met me, the odds are extremely good I was armed.

Hopefully tomorrow, I'll be the owner of a Glock 19 with 3-15 round mags!...

As most of you know, us Illinoisians HAVE to have a FOID card to buy guns or ammo. I had to wait 3 months for my FOID to come in...

Anyways, once I get the Glock, my next purchase will be a Mossberg 500 shotgun!

Definitely a gun owner. But dont have what I wish I did. I plan to change that this year. I have a Bersa .380 that is great for a hide-able gun and will do the trick at close range with hollowpoints Also a good shooting little gun. I was surprised for the price.

I have a cheap 9mm that is really a POS, but my cousin needed some cash in a pinch.. and its another gun lol

Have a Winchester 94-A 30-30 Saddle gun as well. Great little hunting/shooting gun.

And for all you Cali people... there is zero traceability on any of my guns :D When I lived in OK, you could go to a gun show or individual and legally buy anything that was "personal collection" from someone with nothing but a smile and a handshake. I think they are cracking down on it there now.

My plans are to get a .40 and would like an AR next as well. Since I have moved away from home and dont have people with large chunks of land, I am pretty much stuck finding a range and paying to shoot here in MN. And havent been in way too long.

I've got one. Super light, great to carry, sucks to shoot. Leaves a lot to be desired in terms of accuracy (just over 1 inch barrel), but on a hot day, it's a MILLION times better than a full-size pistol.

And it's certainly accurate enough to hit anything within 20 feet, which is PLENTY for self-defense range.

Did I mention nice and cheap too?

Glocks are amazing guns, but I have issues with the size of some of them. Dont feel right in my hands.

+1 on not really liking glocks. Just too plain, too spartan... no "soul" if you ask me. Sure, ultimate reliability is important, but why shoot something that looks like a square hunk of steel if you can avoid it?

The Kimber 1911's are amazing... very pretty guns. I'm sorta "so-so" on the 1911's, simply because I'm not a .45 guy, and I don't like the lower capacity. I'd MUCH rather have 17x 9mm's, than 8x .45's.

If LOLbama gets around to banning the carbines before I have the funds to acquire another gun, I want something with a real BOOM. Preferably, a scoped revolver in a cartridge sufficient to hunt elephant. (exaggeration)

Some of you should check out the Taurus "Judge". Perfect home defense gun!
It's a 5 shot revolver that shoots shotgun shells...

I had a friend in college that had a Kimber 1911. VERY nice gun and great to shoot.

My dad has a Taurus short barrel .357 for the saddle bag of his bike. Hell of a protection gun, but will make your hand feel like it was run over by a truck if you shoot it for very long at once
