The 'bottom one' is actually a KelTec P32, just a touch smaller and lighter than the P3AT. For some reason the fact that it comes with a pocket clip like it's a ball point pen or something has always amused me.

A .32 is definitely a small caliber, but at personal defense range with decent JHP ammo, it is enough to ruin someone's day...

I have a Glock because it's light, fits right in my hand, shoots great and I don't have to worry about dropping it in the mud, water, on rocks, etc. It's purpose is for protection out in the field, not to look pretty

A little personal experience for you Cory; I've owned a KelTec P-11 for 8 years. When I first purchased it, I was less than happy with my first trip to the indoor range. I had about 5 different types of ammo from quality manufacturers (Remington, Federal, Winchester, CorBon and Speer) and NONE would reliably feed. The trigger take-up was also terrible. Since it comes with a lifetime warranty, I sent it back to KelTec. They massaged the trigger and worked on the feed ramp for the barrel. The trigger feels much better and it now feeds reliably with 115 grain JHP ammo, but it still doesn't like 124 grain JHP. The edge of the casing hangs up on the edge of the feed ramp. I'm telling you this so that if you're not happy when you first get it, send it back for some gunsmithing. As a personal defense weapon, I feel the CorBon +P+ 115 JHP is the best cartridge for this little pocket 9. For those that question a 9mm as adequate for self defense, let me assure you that the +P+ CorBon packs a punch.

Accessories that I have purchased from KelTec include the 15 round magazine extension (for S&W mags), several extra magazines, a couple grip extensions, the metal recoil spring rod, and the Tritium night sights. Overall very happy with the little guy.

(So far, even on my S&Ws, I've smoothed and polished feed ramps, and gently massaged the triggers on all of 'em to bring 'em up to the way I like em. The little Kel-Tec took some contouring and polishing of the ramp, but once done, it works reliably and I like it.)

Or the Saiga 12... 30 rounds of 00 buckshot with an AK action. Unless SWAT breaks into your house, you'd have anyone else outgunned. Heck, you could probably tear down your house with it.

EDIT:

Here's the Saiga 12, semi-auto, that we can all get for about $550, with an aftermarket 20-rnd clip in action:

And here's a converted full auto version for law enforcement. It obviously will cost substantially more:

Geez man... not having to pump. This thing is like Viagra for home defense.

Here is my new baby...Glock 19, which is a 9mm, with 3-15 round mags! I got it at a steal at $400! When the economy is bad, people need money, so I took advantage and bought it!...

ive got a ruger 10/22 for plinking, 20ga mossberg under the bed. wife carries a s&w 38 snub-nose. i was about to get the walther pps 40 cal, but at the last second decided on the m&p40 compact for daily carry (cabelas had a sweet sale on it, and it fit my hand better). got an 8mm turkish mauser in the closet, but its hard to find decent ammo for that one. whats funny is, besides the mauser being handed down, ive purchased all of our guns within the last year, lol.

it seems like every store i got to for ammo recently is absolutely cleaned OUT for handgun ammo, i dont remember it being like that 6 months ago. is this happening everywhere else? im assuming it is.

You can thank the handgun control (ban), and ammunition stamping viewpoint of our current President for that.

Standard ammo is still easy to find in any mom and pop gun store. The older ammo is getting harder to find locally. Sometimes a gun shop can order it for you, but you can skip the middle man and get your c&r ammo from like cheaper than dirt or something.

Most of the online retailers are completely out of ammo. In addition, all of the Wal-Marts are completely out... I usually buy 250pks of 9mm for under $50, but certainly not anymore.

At the gun show this weekend - firearm prices were generally a little up, but not crazy. There were only 3-4 "big ugly scary plastic" liberal-scarers left, and of course, those came with a big markup. All of the older guns got a price jump too. Used to be able to get AK's for 400, now the minimum I saw was 800.

BTW - I spoke with my FFL - He said there's a backorder/waiting list for Bushmaster AR-15's -- 140,000 names long!

As we've said - Obama's been the biggest boost to the gun industry in a very, very long time.

About 10 years ago, a local gun shop was running a special, brand new Russian Makarovs, 9X18, with 2 clips, holster and cleaning kit for 119.00. Couldnt resist, enjoy it very much, and recently upgraded the ammo to hollow points. While working down south this past spring, I bought a Golani Sporter 223 from a pawn shop. This is the Isreali Galil clone, with 2 ea. 35 round clips. My daughter and I recently spent the morning at a local outdoor range, this is my first experience with this sort of firearm, and it was totally awesome. Very smooth, very little recoil, very enjoyable. She loves to shoot, and did pretty well with the rifle.

Recently, and I do mean like the last 2 or so weeks, I've just been rediscovering how much I love the 22lr round. With everything so high in price these days, it's still dirt cheap to go to the range and spend an afternoon with a few nice rifles.
