Ok well i just bought a mint iphone from a member on here but im wondering to myself will the internet work without the data plan? or do i really need to get it? from what im reading it has WiFi so i can sign in to wireless routers i think?

will Jailbreaking it make it work? IDK im new to this and any help/adive would be great

You need a data plan. I think the phone will work with out it but the enet won't.
I could be wrong.

And I think there are programs that can get you "free" net if you jail break the phone

 

from what I read online aslong as there's a wireless router somewhere I can go online. im not sure! damnit! I really don't wanna pay 150 for a damn fone bill lol

What. 150 for a bill. I pay $160 for 2 iPhones with 1400 minutes unlimited text and enet

 

im by myself, plus NY tax.
i have a 69.99$ plan + 20$ for unlimited messages + 30$ for data plan

not including taxes which from what i estimate will come out to like 140-150

you on tmobile or at&t? if your on tmobile you can unlock and jailbreak it yourself. if you'd like i can help you later on tonight or tomorrow. it will work flawlessly execpt to use internet you have to use wifi. and be in range of a router or have it connected to the wifi where ever you are.

 

i have at&t will it still work?? so i can def use wifi? im always at home or at work and i have wireless in both so thats the 2 main places ill be half the time. so it will work for me!

can i unlock it? what does unlocking/jailbreaking actually do? yeah man id greatly appreciate it if you can help me!

 

An AT&T bill for a single iPhone will be about $110 or less. I was paying $95 after all taxes on a small corporate discount. Thing is I don't believe you can activate the phone without a data plan (AT&T rules). So you essentially have an expensive iPod touch without it.

 

from what ive been told i can throw my sim on there and i can still use it, then i can connect threw wi fi without having the data plan.

i right now pay 105-110$(with taxes) just for unlimited messaging and rate plan alone. thats why i think cingular/at&t make you buy the iphone from them with a mandatory rate plan bc they know you can connect threw wifi with no problem, IDK i need to read more on it and then when i get it on wednesday im gonna play with it

 

internet will work with wifi, you have a iPhone/iPod touch now.

 

ok that's basically all I wanted to know wooo! lol my job just converted to a wireless wifi hotspot and my house has wireless aswell. im there 98% of the time which is all I really care about.

Last time I checked and I haven't done this in a while. Get 3.1.2 software and them google black rain. 1 2 3 Jailbroken. No data plan, you don't have to register.

Just be careful without a data plan, you can't turn the cell radio off and if you hop on the web on the network and not wireless, you're going to get raped for data fees.

 

I was kinda worried about that too. but I have sumthing where on any of the cells I've had I can't go online to avoid the data fee's from using the "kb's" frm being online. idk if that would do anything im not even sure. UGH
