why a diesel BMW - none of the other ones are diesel? Why not the twin turbo gas burning 3 series?
If you have to get an oil burner, wait for the supposed diesel TT that is coming out.

I forgot to add that
Diesel cos you pay average of 3$ per LITER not gallon in Italy
If you'd have to pay about 10$ per gallon you'd get diesel too

All right...I just received an e-mail from him
The Mini Cooper is out.
The TT he sat in it and found the racing seats very uncomfortable and won't consider the TT unless they come out with different more comfy seats.
As it stands now he's inclined to get the BMW. He asked us the fast one or the faster one na duh...!

i pick the audi, it looks the best, runs the best on the track, you can get it with awd, but in my personal opinion he shouldn't get a german car, they have the lowest consumer confidence of all cars sold in the us. my dad's 04 porsche cayenne s is constantly at the dealership and he only drives it when weather conditions don't permit him to drive his vette. so far that thing has had numerous sensor problems, replacing a turn signal requires removing/replacing the whole headlight housing, oil changes at ta dealership are like $200 dollars ($90 at laytonia). and it needed a new transmission at 24K miles...i know that it is an suv and completely different from your three choices, but it makes me very wary european cars. he was going to get rid of it but they extended his warrenty to 8yr/100k miles.
i'm surprised the new infiniti g35 is nowhere on your list. or a subaru legacy 2.5 gt. my mom has that car and it is the sleeper sedan of the year. 0-60 in 5.4 seconds, awd, 5 speed stick or auto.
bmw's seem too expensive, you pay alot to have those three initials on your car, when less expensive competitors can do just as good for far less.
the mini s...meh, i don't know about the new ones, but a tc can catch an mini s on straightaways, but doesn't handle as well. and i wouldn't want to pay that much for an ff. and looks too small in the cargo department. instead of a mini, how about a tc?
how about a corvette, 400 hp, six speeds, 25 mpg...the hatchbacks have a nice amount of trunk room...

I explained earlier why he's not looking into other cars. Hence BMW or Audi. His porsche 911 had no problems so far. He's owned it for 3 years and picked it up in Austria.

Mercedes will most prob. be his "ultimate retirement car".
He was actually looking into the SL but they were asking him 30k on top of his trade in. He doesn't wanna spend again soo much on a car to keep it only a couple years.
The jaguar he doesn't like anymore cos of the "cheap" little x type which to him brought down the prestige of the house.
