Default Highway Patrol Antics (sorry for the tiny pic)

I spotted this today while I was out on my travels...

If it looks like a cop sprinting after a box of donuts, that's because it is. This CHP unit pulled off the shoulder up ahead of me and as it merged into the first lane, a big square box (donuts? KFC?) fell off the roof and hit the deck. Immediately, the cop busts a U-turn and starts heading towards oncoming traffic with the lights flashing. Me and the surrounding drivers all got pretty alarmed and slowed to a near-stop on the freeway. After about 100ft, the cop turns sideways across the lanes of traffic and came to a stop blocking a couple of the lanes. The door flies open, and the cop comes sprinting outside to retrieve the box from the edge of the outside lane. All lanes of traffic had completely stopped at this point, and I was at the front of the pack. I snapped this pic before the cop rescued his lunch, jumped back into the cruiser, and sped off at top speed.

I really wish I could've taken a video, or at least a better pic. I have to apologize for the absolutely tiny picture. My phone was set to take pictures at 320x240 by default, and I didn't realize until after I uploaded the picture. I have now adjusted my settings to 1024x1240 for future pics, but unfortunately this is the best I could do for now.

So yeah, one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen happen on the freeway.

I don't know what was up, but po po was going CRAZY today in so cal.

I went down the 605 from the 210 heading south, and there was a car posted on every freeway on ramp, people pulled over left and right.

Later in the day, there was high speed chase on the 10 in Monterey Park. I saw cops exit the high way and slam into a center divider island (jumping over it) to pursue a car (the fleeing car was far enough ahead I couldn't quite catch out the make/model.

It must be a buy 1 get 1 free day at Krispy Kreme or something. . .

I've seen better, around here cops are called blue canaries, because they will walk up to any kind of hazmat truck thats leaking and lick whats leaking out of it, I've seen one walk up to a honey sucker truck (a porta potty cleaner) run his finger through the fluids, and lick it, that was some nasty stuff

Know how they sometimes leave an empty patrol car along the highway to make people think they're out there? I've heard of people driving by and leaving empty dunkin donut boxes and cups on the patrol car.

I really don't like the "donut eating" cop stereotype. It implies that cops are all fat bumbling buffoons. Where I live most cops are muscular or at least fit. A few of them enjoy fighting and are trained in various martial arts such as BJJ and Judo. Not only that but they tend to be great people.

You think thats bad We had a Local cop crash into the duncan donuts building at about 60mph the building had to be demo'd and rebuilt. I watched the whole thing happen and the next day in the paper it said a drunk driver did it...I guess it was so ironic that the local department had it covered up lol. Maybe his eyes glased over and he just couldnt wait in the drive-thru so he went for the direct approach.

Please don't be offended; we're just having fun with the decades old stereotype. I actually have 3 friends that are officers (LAPD, L.A. County Sherriff, and California State Peace Officer) and they all enjoy a good cop/donut joke... but it has to be a really good one.
