How Many SL Members Does It Take To Change A Lightbulb?
Q: How many SL members does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: 356,
1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed
14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently
7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs
6 to argue over whether it’s “lightbulb” or “light bulb”
4 to spell, "light bulb," wrong
3 grammar ***** to correct the bad spellers
2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is “lamp”
15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that “light bulb” is perfectly correct
19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a light bulb forum
11 to defend the posting of a light bulb thread in this forum, saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the thread is relevant, informative, and helpful
5 to compain that the light bulb thread is in the wrong room, and to demand that all further light bulb discussions be taken to the OT Cafe.
3 to observe that there's already two other light bulb threads in progress
36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty
6 to explain the weight-saving advantages of carbon fiber light bulbs
3 to warn us about the tendency of carbon fiber light bulbs to explode suddenly, without any warning, (said tendency being the reason why licensed electricians never use carbon fiber light bulbs)
4 who've heard that next year's model light bulb will be much brighter, so they're waiting for next year's model before changing their light bulb
3 who want to know if changing your own light bulb will void the warranty
2 who aren't sure they have enough technical skill to change a light bulb, and want to know if they should attempt this on their own or get a licensed electrician to do it for them
1 licensed electrician to post a, "how-to" thread about how to change your own light bulb, complete with step-by-step instructions, a "tools needed" list, and 17 demonstrative pics
3 other licensed electricians to take issue with the first electrician's,"how to," thread, pointing out that the proper sequence is to first open the step-ladder, and then remove the new light bulb from the packet, not the other way around
13 bagain hunters to organize a light bulb group buy
4 engineers who want to know how accurate the wattage rating printed on the light bulb is
5 other engineers who've conducted scientific studies and know for a fact that the stated wattage can be off by as much as 10%
3 novices who've never changed a light bulb before, to inquire about the wisdom of having your first light bulb change be a super-powerful, 150 watt flood light
16 old-timers to berate the novices about the folly of this undertaking
2 contrarians to note that not all light bulb changers are the same, you don't necessarily have to start with low wattage light bulbs, and so long as the novices attend an approved light bulb changing safety course, they'll be fine starting out with high wattage flood lights
5 to post pics of their own light bulbs
15 to complain about the quality of the posted light bulp pics.
7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs
4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's
13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add, “Me too”
4 who think that oem light bulbs are much better, last much longer, than aftermarket light bulbs.
12 to complain about how aftermarket light bulbs run too hot
27 who think that aftermarket light bulbs put off a much nicer, warmer, more beautiful light, so who cares if they cost more than oem light bulbs and don't last as long?
3 who think it's more efficient to light a room with 4, rather than 2, light bulbs
17 who strongly object to using 4 light bulbs, preferring the look and feel of 2 light bulbs over 4, even if the lighting isn't quite as strong
5 to post that they are leaving SL because they can't handle the light bulb controversy
1 ladies' man to explain how changing a light bulb can get you laid
3 cat lovers to post pics of cats changing light bulbs
4 scatalogically obsessed hijackers who feel compelled to carry on a private conversation about the shape, size, and smell of their last bowel movement
4 to say, “didn’t we go through this already a short time ago?”
13 to say, “do a search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs”
4 Liberals to point out that light bulbs were invented by right-wing fascists to be used by oppressive police when interrogating the oppressed masses
12 Conservatives to counter by noting that, in fact, "light bulbs saved humanity, and if it weren't for God fearing conservatives, all you dirty hippy liberals would still be living in the dark!"
2 unemployed Libertarians to complain about how illegal aliens are taking all the good light bulb changing jobs
4 more to get into personal attacks over their political views
2 amateur detectives who have proof that the OP isn't really a light bulb changer at all, and in fact is really a moderator, masquerading as a light bulb changer
2 crybabies to complain about how the lightbulb thread isn't being moderated fairly and impartially
1 moderator to ban a few overzealous light bulb changers who took the whole light bulb thing too far, and to lock the light bulb thread, and
1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now in a new thread and start it all over again.
