I got a question
I was gonna buy a Converter for my car to hook up to my battery for the car show to run my tv's and lights and the guy told me this stuff about AC and DC currents and a light is DC and a Tv is AC......what do i do...cause people use these things at the shows and they seem to work....Does anyone have experience with a converter that can help me out.

He's wrong unless you have a home tv in your car.
All car audio/video equipment runs on 12 volt dc current they might have built in converters but not likely. If it didn't your car battery wouldn't allow it to run. Yes there are ac and dc currents what you need is an ac (wall type outlet) to DC (car battery) converter.

for you to run your car stuff at a show.. you need a power supply/invertor that you plug into AC.. that converts it to 12V DC for your car..
now unless you plan on plugging a big home type TV in your car directly into the wall.... you'll need another inverter in the car that'll convert the DC in your car.. to the AC the TV needs.

Thanks for the info so I do need the converter which takes the wall AC power and turns it to DC power for my stuff in the car....he confused me but I just wanted to make sure thanks again.

well this is what needs to happen
the power that we use in our house is AC [alternating current]
the power that the car produces is DC [direct current from the battery]
What an inverter does, it takes the 12V DC from the battery, and turns it into 110~ volts AC
Find out how many watts your appliances run on, and then buy the correctly powered inverter for your car.
Mind you, if you're going to be running more than 250watts, you should be tapping the battery directly and not any of wires in the car [ie. cig lighter]
Your best bet, would be to buy a 4 or 8 gauge kit, tap the battery directly, and run a distribution block into the car, and from that you will be able to tap many times without having to constantly tap a wire. the distro block makes everything easier and cleaner.
