Default insurance question.

didnt see it in the search...
as some of you know i was "tackled" by a guard rail...
so i got the estimate and my 2 rims got scratched up.. so they showed up as $421 each...

since i have a 1000 deductible... my insurance company is giving me a check... minus the 1000 i was thinking about putting that 840 into some aftermarket rims and tires. is that considered fraud... i mean yeah they gave it to me and yeah i didnt get the rims that were estimated... but i still used the money and put in more of my own money to get the rims repaired... cept i get 2 extra rims.. and some tired... what do you think?

i mean ive heard of alot of place that jack up labor and painting costs to even cover your deductible for you... if thats not messed up... then i dont think this is... what do you think?

7 views and nobodies helped ya yet, i thought for sure i wouldnt be the only one who's been in ur situation b4

several times i have used insurance checks to my own descrepency, as have my friends.

the ins. co. cut u a check to buy/replace what was damaged, thats what u pay them to do... what u buy is of no consequence, u dont have to submit to the ins. co. what u bought, u dont even have to buy the parts...cash the check!

happy shopping dude

You can do whatever you want with the money. And aftermarket wheel would be fine.

If you want to go with stock rims and tires I will sell you an ENTIRE set (4 wheels and tires) for $600 with less than 400 miles on them. You will still be pocketing money from the deal

yes, the money is yours free and clear. Alot of insurnace companies are now doing this, it is a cash settlement and its easier and less work for them.
Also a tip: insurance companies actually will pay more for stock alloy rims then aftermarket, so say if you had some enkeis and they cost you 300.00 a wheel, but your stock wheels "retail" at 400.00 they will pay you the 400.00.

I worked for statefarm as an adjuster and never figured out why insurance companies do that, but oh well, it benifits the insured.

yeah... they said 421 per stock rim... i dont mind the scratches on the rims... i could keep 840 of the cash... or i could go to wheelsnext and get 4 17's with tires for 799 mounted and shipped....

thanx for the help guys... i was also thinking about buying all the parts from conecelli or something spelling.... and carrying it all to the collision center so thats more money in my pocket... but then i don't know if they would accept it or not.

or you could buy some really nice tires...... rims are not terribly expenzive to refinish, especially the tc rims, you could actually have them powder coated for 35 or so per wheel......
just tossing out some options.

What parts do you need? I have a bit laying around. The place you are getting the car fixed doesnt care where the parts come from as long as they fit.
