Default Looking for laptop help!! serial port anyone?

Im looking for a good laptop with a serial/com port (db9) so I can use it for tuning my ems without problems.

I need recommendations or link where to get this, I know its rare to find it nowadays. I dont mind its not the latest, I just need one with the serial and an XP (not vista) as long as its not very obsolete lol

here's what im looking for:
Serial/com port (DB9)
XP

Not too slow lol- I dont care much about RAM, hardrive, core duo and stuff but if you can find me a good one thats cool..

I just dont want to get headaches of finding cables or converters and find out that it wont work, Im using usb to serial converter right now and it works but with some issues.

Thanks

Ace83, my hydra (2.6) came with a USB to Serial converter, and I have heard that the iogear USB to Serial converter works fine too with the older hydra's (not sure if it would work better than the one that came with my 2.6)

Im not sure how much it would cost to upgrade mine or do they offer upgrade to units? but yeah iogear they said works but not for everybody, my converter from bestbuy works too but my laptop is a mac and i think the keyboard is different so I couldnt change values realtime... i just dont want to go through another headache and just get something compatible.

Yeah you can probably find one for like $150-200 somewhere, it will do great for tuning. It can take a good beating so you dont have to handle it like glass

...time to look on eBay.
Do a search for "laptop".
It came up with a whole list of cheap laptop computers, many of which looked like clearance items from a distributor. The first 5 I saw were all Dell Latitudes, which have a DB9 serial built in. ...not bad for $200.

Yeah, I hate the waiting game, too. I'm ADHD which means I have absolutely no comprehension of the word, "patience."
Good luck!
