i forgot to put before that i have a 1.5-1.8" drop and I live in the friggin mountains and its handles like a dream, granted i have front a rear strut bars, but my lowering it is for complete practicality mixed in with utter sexiness

I personally think the xB looks like it's lifted on blocks when it's stock. To me it looks like crap with such a huge gap. I'm dropped 2 inches and personally want more. No problems with speed bumps here. All a matter of persoanl taste. Doesn't ruin the car one bit with a nice drop and actually handles better when it's lower and less air pressuse gets under the car when driving therefore changing the whole dynamic. Why do you think professional racers have their cars lowered? For looks? NOPE!

Has anyone took out the two bottom stock grills completely to see what it looks like with no grills there? Doesn't seem like it would look that bad.

lol... this is the worst thread ever... even the title was just begging for flame bait.

But hey might as well be productive:

let's see better than stock grills:
Squirrel's grill looks nice.. especially with the new headlights...
Personally I like the OD grill as well..
and a speed grill doesn't look to bad... I think it looks better than stock.

As for lowering, i really don't care either way. I hate the slammed look, but the I don't see what's wrong with a little lowering. From my POV its simply impractical here.. we have too many potholes (not to mention.. snow).

ah, the irony. objecting to the negative implications of the word "rice" yet using the word "___" pejoratively over and over and over...and over. the cluelessness boggles the mind. it truly does.

Hmmmmm
The Irony debate between the stock height and lowerd xB

First off, the stock springs on our xBs are pretty well stiff IMO. Since I changed my wheel and tires, 17in wheels on 205/45 Federal SupperStreets 905's, I noticed somewhat of improvement on handling, of course that included the strut tower brace also. (BTW stock wheel size is 185/60 on 15" steelies). The wheels though did leave somewhat a pretty big gap between the wheel and fenders. My box looked liked it got lifted. I believed that with a 1.5 to 2 inch drop w/ more stiffer spring in front and back, this would minimized body roll. More body roll can be elliminate if you install anti roll bars or sway bars in the rear. Doing this mod and then call it "Rice" is really politcally incorrect.
Whats Rice? Hup-cap spinners, huge "NON-FUNCTIONAL" wings, Big Exuast that only makes noises, hood scoops that doesn't fuction, Vinyle sticker on your cars of parts that you don't even have or installed, strobe lights, and on........ Basicly IMO, if anyone installs parts that don't have any real fuctions that either improves the performance, handling, or LOOKS, I consider it Rice.

Ok, so back to my first post on this thread:

So when FnF came out, peeps put those fibreglass and/or aluminum wings/spoilers on their rides because they liked that particaular "styling", yet some now say its "rice". But once again, it what the owner of the car likes, not public opinion.

And then, some work, and save for a body kit, install it, yet, its not painted (because they don't have the money for it yet), nor do they have the money for wheels.

I don't know alot of people who have readily accessible amounts of cash at their disposal to fully trick out a car at any given moment. Thus my comment about modding being an evolution.

My xB went from this in Aug03:

To this in Oct05:

Some say my center exit exhaust in rice, as is my cf Fab style wing and cf double vented hood. Do I care? No, because its my car, and I like the way it looks.

And its lowered on custom height/rate TEIN springs for the TEIN Wagon coilovers.

And the vinyl represents businesses of my friends.

No one here, that I know, has beaucoup money to spend on parts thsat they want right now. Modding is a constant evolution. They have other priorities in life such as their family, maybe a mortgage, and other things.

Once again, Styling is an individual preference!

OUCH! Get well soon!

I won't be working on my xB for a while either. Ligament repair in the wrist, carpal tunnel repair, and ligament replacement in the elbow, all on the right side.
