Moment of Truth

Why is this show still on the air? Why has it not been canceled yet? Why are people still watching?
I have a degree in info security and an interest in polygraphy, so I watched the first episode just to see what the show was all about. I gave up after the first couple of questions. The producers claim to use a real polygraph test "behind the scenes", but I highly doubt they are using real polygraphy techniques.
The types of questions being asked on the show are not valid questions for a polygraph test. Anyone with real polygraph training and experience should know that the only types of questions which can be asked are questions with definitive "yes" or "no" answer. You cannot ask a question where there is any middle ground. For example, "Did you steal the car?" or, "Are you female?" I saw a couple of retarded questions on the show such as, "Would you go out with X if you were not married to your husband," and, "Would you be more likely to give food to a stray dog than a homeless person?" These questions are so vague that a real polygraph test would not give conclusive evidence of truth or falsity.
Fkn dumb show.

I saw one episode ....and I think the girl's answers to the questions probably ended the relationship with her and her husband, assuming the show is "real".....
but all in all its was pretty stupid and I haven't watched a minute more since.

It's not really cruel at all. It would be cruel if they just sprung the questions on the contestants and really put them on the spot. However, the contestants get asked the questions before the show, while they are supposedly hooked up to a polygraph. The only people who would go on air after already being asked the full array of personal questions are people who want to end their relationship(s).

It's both a great show and a terrible show.
Great show in the vein of it's horrifically entertaining like a train wreck or the Jerry Springer show.
Terrible show in the vein of it's horrifically entertaining like a train wreck or the Jerry Springer show.
I'm just waiting for the day when Fox becomes "the all Train-Wreck Channel".

Seriously, there's no way for those questions to not ruin your life.
