Default Monster Pig killed by 11 year old.

http://www.monsterpig.com/

video is on cnn.com frontpage atm.

My main problem is i don't know about an 11 year old shooting a .500 caliber pistol. Good lord, I've seen a man shoot a .50 desert eagle and he had no control of recoil, I can't imagine a father let an 11 year old possibly throw out his shoulder shooting one of these.

I saw that story too. That is one BIG PIG. A .50 cal revolver isn't that bad to shoot. It's gonna kick, but not bad enough to hurt him. Besides, he's a pretty solid 11 yr old who's been hunting his hole life. He's not some 75 pounder who just started hunting. Can you imagine the smoked ham from that beast?!?!

Eh... my main problem is with grown men who have high powered rifles killing an animal and then mounting it as if it is some kind of accomplishment... But that is a whole different conversation.

Haha... since there is already a thread on this boar I will proceed with threadjacking...

I am not a vegetarian. What is your point? I don't mount my cheeseburger on the wall like it is a diploma from a prestigous university...

LOL...that's a good one. Are you against hunting, or do you just think it's easy?

I would not do it myself but I am not against other people doing it. "Easy" is a very relative term... I think it is "unfair" and I am disgusted by anyone who considers it an accomplishment.

How is it ok to eat meat that came from an animal that was raised in captivity with no chance at survival, but it's not okay to hunt an animal in the wild? The wild animal has a seriously good chance of survival. Big game hunting takes a lot of skill, patients, and hard work. Most people who are against hunting seem to picture it almost like hunting in a zoo. It's not that easy. Many people will hunt deer for years before they shoot their first buck. Slaughter houses (where your cheeseburger came from) kill hundreds of cows a day. I'm not in to having game mounted either, but that's just me. I can certainly see why some guys like to.

I never said I was against hunting. It is the idea that something extraordinary was accomplished that I have a real problem with. Takes skill eh? An 11 year old boy killed a pig bigger than anything mounted on anyone's wall. If that logic isn't enough for you consider this and answer honestly...
If dear/bears/etc... had high powered rifles and were as accurate as most hunters would anybody ever go hunting? Would you?

Yeah...skill...

Bears and Dear wouldnt make good hunters.....Cause they dont have any thumbs...and where would they get money to buy guns....the would have to get jobs to make money to buy guns.....which goes back to them not having any thumbs

I take it you have never tried it? You really have no idea what you're talking about if you haven't. Hunting big game does take skill. That's why it's called hunting...not killing. Many times you come home with nothing. But I guess that's hard to understand if you think beef comes from the freezer section of the grocery store.

Wrestling a full grown bear with your bare hands and winning = accomlishment
Shooting a bear who doesn't even know he is in a fight from 50 yards away with a high powered rifle = cowardly

I think it's obvious its meant as in "for fun" vs. "for survival"
