Default my 1st ticket ( need advice)

HI, yesterday i got my first speeding ticket in 4 yrs driving. when the officer talked to me all he said was that i was goin g a little too fast and asked for my info b4 i could say anything. He went to his car and came back then told me that if was going 85 in a 65 zone and that my tint had to go too (40% tint 35 is legal.) I do admit i was speeding because i had set cruise control to 75, but to see him write 85 dumbfounds me because thats an infraction and is even worse. i think it took him 85 mph to catch up to me but not my actual speed. and also other cars were going as fast or even faster than me not that thats any excuse. I really dont want to fight the ticket, but could it be possible for me to get it reduced. I got the ticket on the 10 freeway in e. la coming back form pomona too. any advice anyone??

also for the tint couldnt i just go to toyota and ask for a letter that proves the tint is legal and that it just looked darker because it was night time and was dirty? cuz when they do tint they do all the windows except front windshield and make drivers side a lot lighter.

Take traffic school--that will get it off your record. As to the tint--if you didn't add it I would fight that. How did he measure the tint?

misdemeanor is not something you want. Its worse than an infraction. Its goes felony, misdemeanor and then infraction.

Your 18 now and you were driving for the past 4 years? Didn't realize california lowered the driving limit again. Stay in school

Now your just being contradictory. Were you going 85 or 75? I thought you said you were going 75 with cruise control.

exact same thing happen to me , got busted for speeding ..suppositly 86mph , but he put 80mph to help me out tints .. he didn't even look at them (rolled my windows as soon as I saw the lights)
My court date is May 11th

Good luck.

pay the damn ticket and possibly contest that the window tint was put on by the factory and that the cop didn't have a light meter or anything to measure the VLT of your windows.

Go to court and tell the judge straight up you had the cruise set at 74mph. That will prove the cop got it wrong and should have got the others that were passing you. It should get dismissed or drastically reduced. Then take traffic school to keep it off your record. Before you go to court, get something in writing to prove what amount of tint you have. It should also get dismissed. Good luck!
