new addition to the FUJIZ family-- PICS-Tatis and Cha Cha II
well it finally happened.
she isnt named yet.-- edit named Tatis (beige) and Cha Cha (grey)
she is cute and adorable.
small and playfull
and most important healthy.
she is a winter white hamster. she is rare hamster found at the pet stores. the winter white hamster is russian and they tend to turn their coats to white in the winter or if there is no light for a long time.
here is a sample image of her
to those of you with hamsters. what is the best way to care for them? any tips would be helpful.
This is the home that im going to buy. I bought one but i dont like it since it has rails at the bottom and since its a dwarf hamster its feet keep falling thru.
I just got it last night and im thinking of getting another one to keep it company. Any suggestions if its good to get 2 or just 1?
as of now we have 1 -male apple head long haired chihuhua Chico Bling a.k.a Chiquito.
1-female winter white russian hamster. ( nameless at the moment)
2- sisters.

Congrats on your new addition...I would reccomend not getting two unless they are from the same family; and same sex. If you end up getting two from separate liters they usually will fight, or you will have to keep them in different cages. If you wish, get a ball for her to run around in; they love gettin outta the cage and running around. Always make sure that the cage is closed...my HamHam had a habit of getting outta her cage and would run into our bedroom to sleep in the corner...they run really fast.. anyways...I hope this helps...otherwise just google your hamster and see what they enjoy....some like yogurt, cheese, corn...so many different things for food wise...

thanks for the info.
im going to get the car that moves when she spins the wheel..sort of what happens with our xb's
im also getting the
im going to test how rat and dog get along. chiquito would't stop smelling my hands and he kept going to the cage and look at me in a curious way. after a while he got jealous and made me play with him. its funny how animals behave.
i been reading and learning alot of hamsters and got several ideas on how to take care of them.
im going to stick to one. there are some google finds that says they live fine with 2 or more same sex same family hamsters but tend to fight anyways. so to play it safe im only keeping one.
now i have alot of boxes laying around especially shoe boxes. Time to build a mansion for the darn thing to play in.
Hmmm.. im starting to wonder how i would act if i was DAD.. wowswers ..scary tought.
im sticking to animals. i dont have to take them to school, change diapers, 2am crying wake up calls, drama, time out, birds and bees talk, parent teacher night, and much more.
cant yall tell im happy?

^ my female dwarf hamster pees alot too, the good thing is she as a detachable part on the top of her cage that she does the do in, so I only have to clean that frequently. What are you going to name them? I named mine xB.

My wife allways get hamsters ( they only live for 2 to 4 years) and all she does is keep the water bottel full the bedding clean and a constant supply of food.
And once a week or so give it some card board to chew on (empty papertowel rolls work good)

well i did a dummy.. but i had to prove it to myself so i wouldnt be in doubt.
i went to go buy another cage. this time they had more and more variety in patterns and such. so i picked up another same sex same family different color.
well the second is afraid of the 1st and the 1st takes advante and attacks. so i seperated them and im returnint the grey one the 1st.
the 2nd is more tame. its stands on its legs. and crawls on my shouders back and forth. while the 1st is just scared.
also the 2nd goes crazy on the wheel and the 1st is just chillin in the wheel. so the 1st is pretty boring.
im going to keep just one this time. as i noticed they can fight and i rather be it like this. since this one is pretty active im sure ill have fun with it.
ooohhh the look on my mom..she is terrified. i chased around the house. and when chiquito got by her legs she got scared too..haha..imma have fun.. lets see who will be victim # 4?
here is the link for the hamsters.
the grey one was the 1st that i bought and returning.

I used to work at Petsmart, those look like the Siberian Hamsters that we carried. Those things were the meanest little bastards, if you put anything in the cage they'd attack it. You'd have to watch your fingers just changing the water bottle or food bowl because they'd sleep under the bedding and pop up and take a bite out of you if you weren't careful.
I'm glad yours seems to be nicer. As far as tips for taking care of hamsters: keep her off of sawdust/wood shaved bedding, it can cause respiratory problems; use the kind made from recycled paper. Also, give her some nice hard wood chews. Hamsters have teeth that constantly grow, so they need something hard to chew on to keep them in check. You already learned the lesson about keeping more than one together, so I won't go into that. Good luck!

alright guys..thanks for stopping by.
i decided to keep both. i just could't let. its so hard to say good bye.
the grey one is called Cha Cha II - shee looks like my friends and I named that one Cha Cha so this is the II.
the beige one is called Tatis. ma freind named that one.
well the grey one is still scared and just likes to mess around in the bedding and the beige chills in the bedding but goes all over her cage.
I plan to expand and make a mansion for playing outside the cage.
i like grabbing both by their sking behind their ears and let them hang. after a while they try to break loose. its fun.
