Default Reckless Driving Ticket...Getting a Lawyer

I got a Reckless Driving ticket yesterday. This happened on a two-lane highway with speed limit of 55mph. The other car was a POS stock Integra and some older woman was driving. A couple miles back, she was pacing me and then got right in front of me and was driving slower than the speed limit so I got in the left lane and passed her. I put my cruise control on 60mph and she was weaving in and out of traffic and tailgating me. SHE was the one messing around, I was just driving. Then she comes up behind me really fast, Stater comes over a hill in the opposite direction and pulls us both over. He says I was going 81 and she was right on my tail. Then he went and got her statement. Comes back and says she claims we were messing around.

He asked me if we were racing and I said "No! The person behind me was coming up really fast and tail gating me. I was not the one speeding."

He then talked to the other driver and came back and said her story was totally different. She claims we were messing around about a mile back.

I said "Nothing was going on I was just driving. I don't know why she thinks we were racing."

He said she is in just as much trouble as you, and gave ME a reckless driving/racing ticket.

If convicted, I can lose my license, go to jail, and pay a fine of up to $5000! I am going to see a lawyer today and fight it.

^he is basing the racing ticket off of what the other driver's claiming. He did not see anything but me in front, her right behind me and someone was going 81mph. The state has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that we were racing.

I would consult a lawyer. Probably the smartest thing to do!

"Their story is totally different." rofl That's a good one. What did that pig expect to hear, Parts I and II of a classic fairy tale?

If he came up over a hill he obviously had no idea what was going on. What state was this in? Take it to court and get that sh*t thrown out.

Yeah, he didn't have enough time to judge how fast you two going since he just came over the hill. What a jerk. The girl is a dumb ****. Why would she say something stupid like that? She thought you two were fooling around?! There was a merge, so there is always hesitation!! Good luck my friend.

Happened in WA, was a State Tropper who pulled me over...they are real d!cks up here. City cops are great, but these WASPs are by the book.

That beotch was just mad cuz I passed her a POS stock Integra a while back.

First off the other girl is an idiot for admitting you and here were messing around whether you were or not. If the officer has you speeding then there you go. Some states depening on how fast you are going over the speed limit it can be considered reckless driving. The only question i have is why were you going so fast? in a rush?

I was not doing 80, my cruise control was set at 60mph, I always drive 5 over unless there's lots of traffic. I am not going to confess to that in court tho. The burden is all on the officer to prove in court.

My 2 cents. www.mucklestone.com WA State Police hate seeing her in court. Just mentioning her name will irritate the cop. Bellevue's assistant DA is also on his own now as a traffic lawyer. I have his contact info if you need it. 1st choice would be Jeannie though.

umm.... well... i've actually gotten off of a speeding ticket before cause the cop never actually "clicked" my car with his speed radar... i got pulled over, he asked if i knew how fast i was going... then i asked him how fast he clicked my car for going... and he kept asking how fast i was going (i think i was at around 85 on a 65) but hes got no proof i was going that fast. of course i didnt tell him how fast i was going cause thats for him to find out =)... and as for reckless driving, i think in washington, anything over 100 is considered reckless but being tailgated is definitely not reckless driving on your part.
